Job Description Equix Energy Services is an energy and utilities contractor that provides high-quality pipeline and facility construction services. At Equix, we support our customers and stakeholders and constantly strive to exceed expectations with all of our services, which include: Pipeline Construction, Gas Distribution, Horizontal Directional Drilling, Facility Construction and Fabrication, and Trenching services. Equix Energy Services is currently seeking an efficient, safety-minded Locator with CDL for underground utility construction services. We have long-term work available for the right candidate in a variety of positions and locations. Our current construction services focus primarily on the underground installation of natural gas distribution piping. Job Responsibilities: • Identifies and marks buried utilities utilizing specific locating devices, • Be able to read and understand utility provided maps/prints, • Familiar with Digitrack locating equipment for directional drills, • Safely and effectively operate all equipment, • Identify potential problems; develop and implement solutions, • Enforce Company policies and standard work procedures, • Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations for the safety of the crew and the public, • Troubleshoot and repair minor equipment problems, • Interact with customers to explain the work procedures necessary at the worksite/residence, • Complete project paperwork as required by the customer, • Prepare pre-trip equipment prior to mobilizing to job site and operating equipment, • Prepare and maintain equipment for safe daily operations including checking and maintaining fluids and greasing vehicles, • Load material or equipment for transport from show-up yard to job site and secure as appropriate, • Participate in job hazard analysis on daily basis or as often as conditions change, • Assist in securing work site, equipment and materials at the end of each shift to ensure public safety and safety of equipment and materials, • Prepare documents, reports or job aids related to work, equipment and safety as assigned, • Operation of heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, front end loaders and skidsteers to excavate or move dirt, rock and other materials, • Load or assist with loading materials or equipment, • Comply with operating safety rules and regulations per OSHA safe practices, • Operates Backhoe for general site preparation, excavation, backfill, and related assignments, • Performs routine inspection and maintenance on equipment and vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires, • Able to perform safe and clean trench excavation and backfill, • Able to set and pull shield shoring in accordance to OSHA safe practices, • Able to interact with foreman, superintendents and governing authorities to effectively manage project, • May perform laborer duties when required, • Prepare documents, reports, or job aids related to work, equipment, and safety, • Travel frequently within the area for work assignments, • This position is subject to the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol testing regulations as outlined in 49 CFR Part 382 and/or 49 CFR Part 199, • Valid Driver License with clean record, • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening, • Sit, stand and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday, • Stand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day, • Regularly bend, kneel, squat and climb throughout the workday, • Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others, • Must be able to lift and/or move 100 pounds, • Ability to drive on a stop and start basis daily and continually, getting in and out of trucks and/or equipment multiple times during the course of the day, • Standing, walking including and primarily on uneven surfaces, turning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, speaking and hearing are required continuously, • Close vision is required for some functions and distance and peripheral vision is required for safety, • Employee will be subjected to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, • Employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electric shock and vibration, • Must be able to work in loud work environments Language Skills Equix offers: • Multiple medical plan options, • Weekly pay, • Wellness program, • Dental and vision plans, • FSA and HSA options, • 401k savings plan with employer match, • Financial protection products, • Short and long-term disability, life, accident, critical illness, • Legal Shield and ID theft plans, • Employer-paid life insurance, • Paid Time Off and paid holidays, • Employee assistance program, • Employee referral program, • Pet Insurance, • Education Assistance Program, • Health Advocacy Program Candidates must pass pre-employment screenings that may include a drug test, background check, reference checks, and driver's license check with an acceptable driving record.
