Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipping and Packing Specialist Job Description This role focuses on accurately packing and shipping customer orders in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while following established policies, procedures, and safety standards. You will prepare shipments using ERP and carrier systems, handle hazardous materials in compliance with regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and support inventory control through cycle counts. The position requires strong attention to detail, dependable work habits, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure orders ship correctly and on time. Responsibilities • Perform packing activities in accordance with written policies, procedures, and packing instructions., • Verify that materials picked for sales orders match the materials listed on the packing slip before packing., • Package materials securely in designated cartons following established departmental procedures., • Package all hazardous materials in compliance with written policies, procedures, and applicable regulations., • Perform shipping activities in accordance with written policies and procedures., • Process shipments through ERP and shipping systems, including major carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and DHL., • Verify the accuracy of shipping labels and apply them correctly to cartons., • Apply all required regulatory package labeling to shipments, including hazardous materials where applicable., • Stage orders for collection and shipment based on department procedures and schedules., • Complete all workstation end-of-day processes, including closing out shipments and organizing work areas., • Create itemized packing slips and dangerous goods documentation for applicable shipments., • Cross-train to perform Finished Goods Clerk II tasks to support broader operations when needed., • Troubleshoot and resolve shipment process errors in a timely manner., • Respond to customer support requests professionally and promptly, ensuring issues are resolved to satisfaction., • Ensure quality and accuracy in all packing, shipping, and documentation activities., • Report discrepancies, errors, or issues to appropriate supervision for resolution., • Perform cycle counts without supervision to support inventory accuracy., • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times., • Perform aisle and workstation maintenance to support a tidy and efficient environment., • Participate in Lean initiatives to improve processes and reduce waste., • Lead department Gemba walks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement., • Monitor and reorder shipping supplies and manage department equipment to ensure readiness for daily operations., • Manage time effectively to meet shipping deadlines and production schedules., • Maintain reliable attendance in accordance with company guidelines., • Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall success of the department.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of shipping and receiving experience., • Previous experience with shipping systems for carriers such as FedEx, UPS, or DHL., • Experience working in a high-volume environment., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately., • Intermediate computer skills, including Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and training software., • Basic to intermediate MS Office skills, including Excel for math and analytical tasks., • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work., • Ability to perform cycle counts without supervision., • Hazardous shipping experience and familiarity with dangerous goods documentation., • Good time management and organization skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines., • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment., • Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset., • Ability to stand for long periods of time during the workday., • Dependable, detail-oriented approach with a desire to exceed expectations., • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain an organized, proactive attitude., • 3 years of related experience in shipping, packing, or a similar role.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with UPS, FedEx, DHL, or similar carrier platforms., • Previous cycle count experience in a warehouse or distribution environment., • Enhanced math and analytical skills using Excel., • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively., • Comfort working in a high-volume, fast-paced operational setting., • Strong customer service skills and the ability to respond to support requests professionally., • A proactive, “take charge” attitude and enjoyment of varied, day-to-day challenges.Why Work Here? The dress code is manufacturing casual, and you will receive a company-provided coat and safety glasses. The standard schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime required during very busy periods; when operations are significantly behind, overtime is mandatory. A second shift receives a 10% differential added to the base offer. The facility includes an onsite gym, multiple cafés, a cafeteria with various food and snack options, and several outdoor seating areas for breaks and lunches. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $23.32/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
