Job Description Total Required Experience in Years: 15+ Years Mode of Work: Hybrid (Onsite Tuesdays & Wednesdays | Remote Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays | Local to Lansing, MI within 90 Miles Only) Job Description: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking an experienced Full-Stack Java Developer to support Project Development and Maintenance programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building enterprise Java applications using Spring technologies, Oracle databases, and modern front-end frameworks while working in an Agile environment. The role involves developing, testing, deploying, and modernizing mission-critical applications, collaborating with UI/UX teams, and enhancing legacy systems with scalable and responsive solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications using Java 8 and Spring technologies, • Build and maintain full-stack applications utilizing Spring Boot, Spring Data, JPA/Hibernate, and Oracle databases, • Develop responsive user interfaces using HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, and modern front-end technologies, • Collaborate with project managers, application owners, and Agile team members to deliver project objectives, • Work closely with UI/UX teams to implement intuitive and responsive user experiences, • Support modernization and enhancement of legacy applications and systems, • Develop and optimize SQL and PL/SQL queries for Oracle databases, • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, • Perform unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and code reviews to ensure application quality, • Assist with deployment activities and production support for enterprise applications Additional Responsibilities: • Contribute to technology upgrades and migration initiatives, • Develop new application features and improve existing functionality, • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to deliver scalable solutions, • Maintain technical documentation and development standards, • Ensure applications align with current architecture, security, and coding best practices Required Skills: • 7+ years of experience developing complex Java applications using IDEs such as Eclipse or JBoss Developer Studio, • 5+ years of experience with Spring Framework, • 5+ years of experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Bootstrap, • 5+ years of experience with JPA/Hibernate, • 5+ years of experience working in Agile development environments, • 5+ years of experience developing user interfaces with JavaScript frameworks and CSS, • 5+ years of experience with HTML5, CSS, and DataTables, • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Java 8, • 4+ years of experience with jQuery and jQuery UI, • 4+ years of experience with Oracle 12c or Oracle 19c Preferred Skills: • 4+ years of experience with React.js, • 4+ years of experience in JBoss Enterprise environments, • 4+ years of experience with SQL and PL/SQL development, • 4+ years of experience using Log4j, JUnit, and Apache Tiles, • 4+ years of experience with Jasper Reports, Crystal Reports, or Business Objects, • Experience with front-end development technologies and responsive application design Qualifications: • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced Agile environment, • Experience modernizing legacy enterprise applications, • Quick learner with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, • Comfortable working closely with technical teams, project managers, and UI/UX designers Education: • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred Additional Requirements: • Local candidates only (within 90 miles of Lansing, MI), • Hybrid work schedule is mandatory and non-negotiable, • Three professional references required at submission, • Resume must not exceed five pages, • Prescreening questionnaire must be completed before submission
