Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Perfusionist, • Discipline: Allied Health Professional, • Start Date: ASAP, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 10 hours, days, • Employment Type: Local Contract Job Title: Traveling Perfusionist Location: Hartford Hospital – Hartford, CT Position Type: Full-Time | Travel Assignment Hours: 40 hours/week + rotating shifts and call Position Overview Hartford Hospital is seeking an experienced Traveling Perfusionist to join its highly skilled Cardiovascular Perfusion team. This is a full-time travel opportunity with rotating shifts and call responsibilities, including weekends and holidays. A 30-minute on-call response time is required. The perfusionist will perform advanced technical and clinical duties under the supervision of licensed physicians, providing cardiopulmonary support primarily in the Operating Room, with potential coverage in the Cath Lab, Emergency Room, and ICU. Schedule Details The schedule follows a 13-person rotation with an equal distribution of: • Morning Shifts: 06:00 – 14:30, • Afternoon Shifts: 14:00 – 22:30, • Call Shifts: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd call (weekday and weekend), • Call shifts are 24 hours (06:00 – 06:00)Key Responsibilities, • Provide perfusion support for elective and STAT adult cardiac procedures, including:, • CABG, AVR, MVR, Aortic Repairs, • AngioVac, Heart Transplants, • ECMO and Acute VADs, • Provide perfusion support for non-cardiac procedures, including:, • Liver Transplants, • HIPEC, • VV ECMO, • Autologous Blood Recovery, • Manage and support cardiac assist devices, including:, • IABP, • Impella CP, 5.5, and RP Flex, • ProTek Duo, • VA ECMO, • CentriMag, • HeartMate 3, • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot heart-lung machines and accessory equipment, • Administer medications, blood products, and anesthetic agents under physician supervision, • Perform equipment checks, maintenance, and documentation, • Collaborate with physicians and care teams to adjust therapy as needed, • Maintain supplies and assist with ordering and inventory, • Participate in quality improvement, policy development, staff education, and performance initiatives, • Uphold Hartford Hospital’s standards of professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered careRequired Qualifications, • Current Connecticut Perfusion License, • Current ABCP Certification, • Current BLS Certification, • Ability to meet 30-minute on-call response time, • Strong clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and teamwork skillsWhy Hartford Hospital, • High-acuity, diverse case mix, • Advanced cardiovascular and transplant programs, • Collaborative, team-focused environment By meeting the rigorous standards set by The Joint Commission, one of the most respected accrediting bodies in healthcare, we've demonstrated that our processes, compliance, and patient care standards are aligned with the highest levels of quality in the industry.
