Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Cardiac Sonographer, • Discipline: Allied Health Professional, • Start Date: 04/06/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 8 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 5x8hrs, • Hours: 40 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 6, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Positions are based across multiple hospital and outpatient locations in Lake County and Cook County, including acute care hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and outpatient offices, • Work settings include adult acute care, pediatric acute care, ICU, and emergency department, • Adult echo procedures include 2-D Echo, 3-D Echo, TEE, bubble studies, pharmacologic stress echo, treadmill stress echo, imaging with contrast agents, portable studies, color Doppler, M-Mode, pulsed wave Doppler, and RVIT/RVOT, • Pediatric anomalies include Tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great vessels, hypoplastic heart syndrome, coarctation of the aorta, coronary artery anomalies, and other complex congenital conditions, • Calculations performed include Simpson's Rule, diastology, LV strain/LV volume, and proximal isovelocity surface area, • Equipment used includes Philips and Siemens ultrasound systems, • Epic is the preferred charting system, • 5x8-hour day shifts; start time varies by location between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM (e.g., 7:00–3:30, 7:30–4:00, or 8:00–4:30), • Rotating weekend coverage approximately every 4th–6th weekend, which may include an isolated Saturday or Sunday, • On-call is required at hospital locations only, approximately twice per contract for 6–7 days at a time (including weekends), from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM; on-call may be split in compliance with Illinois ODRISA law, • Floating between multiple locations within the same county area is required based on business need, patient census, and staffing; personal transportation (car) is requiredRequirements, • Minimum of 1 year of echo technologist or cardiac sonographer experience required, • ARDMS, ARDMS RDCS AE, BLS, and CCI RCS certifications required; RDCS is also required, • Proficiency in pediatric echo, 2-D echo, color Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, pulsed wave Doppler, M-Mode, portable studies, RVIT/RVOT, routine scanning, scanning complex anomalies, and post-surgical repairs required, • TEE and 3-D echo experience preferred, • Epic charting experience preferred, • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred, • Must be willing and able to float between multiple locations across Lake County and Cook County; personal vehicle/transportation required, • License required if applicable, • SSN and DOB required for consideration, • 2 professional references preferredAdditional Information, • Perform a full range of adult and pediatric echocardiography studies, including routine, complex, and post-surgical cases across inpatient and outpatient settings, • Procedures on patients in ICU and ED settings are part of the role; knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE is expected, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Local candidates are accepted with no radius requirement, • RTO must be submitted at the time of initial application; a maximum of 10 days RTO is permitted and requests submitted after the initial offer will not be accepted, • Candidates with background hits may still be considered on a case-by-case basis, • Former permanent staff members must have a 1-year gap before returning as a traveler With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
