Job Description Summary: The Criminal Court program provides a safe reception center and various services to assist survivors and victims of crime navigate through the Criminal Court. The program provides counseling, crisis intervention, case management services, advocacy, information and referrals and practical assistance to survivors and victims of crime with an overall goal of promoting survivor safety and reducing the impact of victimization. The Coordinator is responsible for providing holistic support services to victims of all crimes. This included counseling and crisis intervention to assess the needs of victims and to help with the development of safety plans to address immediate risks and concerns. This plan may include the provision of in-person or telephone counseling; emergency assistance such as money for transportation; assistance with an Office of Victim Services (OVS) application; providing information and referrals, and follow-up services; and providing assistance with obtaining an order of protection, restitution, and other criminal justice remedies. The Coordinator will advocate on the client’s behalf with public entitlement programs, schools, employers, civil legal attorneys, and other community-based organizations, and coordinate and collaborate with the OVS Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and the New York Civil Legal Network to ensure that victims are receiving a comprehensive response.
