Job Summary: The Groundskeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Landscape Department, which includes daily inspections, training and coaching employees, recommending disciplinary action when needed, and assisting with the development of property care programs and strategies. Duties & Responsibilities: • Supervise and assist in the care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, lawns, flower beds, containers, irrigation systems, low voltage lighting systems, and specialized care of areas for events, tours, and workshops, • Coordinate grounds care with other department employees, and perform other duties as assigned by the Garden & Landscape Manager, • Requires punctuality, responsibility, integrity, and productive work habits, • Properly use gardening tools including mowers, weed eaters, hand pruners, loppers, chainsaws, hand and pole saws, and others as trained or as job requires, • Maintain trees, shrubs, and landscapes to keep healthy, clean and aesthetically appealing, • Engage in daily operations of all facets of holistic grounds management including weeding and pest management, • Responsible for appropriate seasonal care of plants and grounds, • Assist in the maintenance and management of the systems, equipment and facilities which are essential to grounds care including drip and spray irrigation systems, acequias, low voltage lighting, and hand and power tools, • Will work with interns including overseeing their labor and education, volunteers, assistant farmers and groundskeeping staff as needed or requested by the Garden & Landscape ManagerRequirements:, • At least two years of skilled landscape maintenance experience in a commercial or residential setting or commensurate related experience, • Possess strong communication skills, • Good organizational skills and attention to detail, • Ability to read and understand landscape plans, • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain irrigation systems, both drip and spray, • Ability to use initiative and lead by example, • Demonstrate a friendly and professional attitude, demeanor, and appearance, • Ability to use hand, power, and garden tools with an emphasis on safety and proper pruning techniques, • Intermediate to advanced horticultural knowledge, • Ability to give and follow instructions, • Frequent bending, stooping, standing and kneeling, • Ability to lift fifty pounds, • Able to work in extremes of weather and temperatures, • Able to stand for long periods of time and walk on rough, uneven ground and variable soil conditions, • Knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair of low-voltage landscape lighting systems, • Knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair of fountains and water features, • Strong interest in horticulture, organic gardening, and farming principles, • Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management Practices, • Knowledge of spoken Spanish
