Primary Objective of Sales Manager Position Secure new volume accounts; grow positive relationships with assigned existing accounts; assure positive recognition within the local community for the hotel. Responsibilities Full job description The Sheraton La Jolla is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced and motivated individual for the position of Sales Manager. Candidate should demonstrate excellent organizational & communication skills; a strong proficiency in multi-tasking with hospitality sales management experience. The Sheraton La Jolla Hotel is locally owned and managed by Bartell Hotels and has just completed a major, multi-million dollar renovation. The responsibilities of the Sales Manager include but are not limited to: • Comprehensive knowledge of market position, banquet and food and beverage revenues, pricing and rate structures, sales strategies, yield management, booking trends, and future hotel planning, • Be fully knowledgeable of competitive markets outside the area, • Solicit and develop new business while maintaining existing relationships will the hotel’s current accounts, • Be fully knowledgeable of the capabilities and limitations of the hotel and departments that may impact sales strategies, • Follow Sales policies and procedures, • Make personal sales calls, • Conduct exceptional site inspections and property tours with potential clients, • Maintain professionalism in problem situations, • Maintain detailed records of discussions with guest, including all meeting setups, food and beverage, etc, • Upsell to improve revenue generation and ancillary revenue to include Room Rental, Audio Visual and Banquet Food and Beverage, • Attend trade shows, industry and local events that create opportunities for networking, • Develop creative marketing techniques, • Achieve and exceed team annual goals as established by the Director of Sales, • Maintain correct procedures for credit control, financial transactions, and security of financial assets, • Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner, • Ability to accurately use various office and sales software, • Understand the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc., and how to sell against them, • Follow all additional duties as assigned by the Director of Sales, • Skills-, • Possess strong sales and negotiating skills with the ability to close in a positive outcome, • Knowledge of CI/TY and Marriott systems to include Lightspeed a plus, • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Office, Internet Explorer/Google Chrome, • Well organized and detail oriented, • Ability to work independently, • Display initiative, perseverance and analytical skills, • Effective communication, • Professional and ethical, • Displays enthusiasm, • Excellent customer service skills, • Team player, • Available to meet and entertain guests, • Ability to read, write and speak English, with excellent grammar and communication skills (written and verbal), • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of hotel sales management experience required
