An opportunity is available for an experienced RN skilled in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing to support a newly established stepdown unit opening in early 2026. This 12-bed adult medical PCU is designed for patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, established vents and trachs, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, and more. The unit initially operates at 50% capacity, with plans for growth, and is part of a 33-bed hospital with no trauma designation. Responsibility Highlights: • Deliver comprehensive nursing care including IV starts, wound care (dressings, wound vacs, drains), central line maintenance, NG tube insertion, tube feeding, and PCA/kangaroo pump management., • Monitor cardiac rhythms and titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, heparin, and insulin using Endotool., • Perform lab draws (phlebotomy not available)., • Care for vented patients as needed, with training provided on ventilation and Precedex drips., • Utilize EPIC EMR for patient documentation and medication administration through Alariso IV pumps and Omnicell med dispensing., • Minimum 2 years PCU nursing experience; first-time traveler considered only with 5+ years of PCU experience., • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications., • Confidence in general nursing skills and ability to manage complex patient care scenarios., • Comfort with independent patient monitoring (no tele tech support)., • Contract role with shifts from 7 AM7 PM or 7 PM7 AM., • Weekend rotation: 6 weekends per 6-week cycle., • Holiday coverage approximately 75% of holidays., • Free parking provided., • Self-scheduling available with managerial approval.
