Job DescriptionJob Title: Technician I Job Description The Technician will assist in the setup, operation, disassembly, and cleaning of chemical process equipment and systems for pilot scale testing under the supervision of the Process Development Manager and Process Development Engineers. Responsibilities • Review test paperwork including test request forms, PFDs, P&IDs, and SDSs, and ask relevant questions., • Pull materials from storage using electric pallet jacks, and process them according to SOP and batch order., • Perform basic plumbing and run process utility lines, such as hot oil, steam, water, and electrical., • Inspect and set up process equipment, instrumentation, and controls, including installation of instrumentation, utility plumbing, valves, insulation, and guarding., • Calibrate and operate mixing and processing equipment, feeders, and pumps., • Monitor, inspect, and test equipment, making necessary adjustments and pressure changes., • Conduct mechanical checkout of equipment/systems with the Process Development Engineer and resolve any arising issues., • Complete appropriate test paperwork, including equipment settings and feed/product rates., • Take and label samples during tests as directed by the Process Development Engineer., • Disassemble equipment/systems, clean them, and put them into storage. Collect, weigh, and label all materials., • Assist the Process Development Engineer in conducting inventory of all materials before and after testing., • Move drums/containers of finished product (up to 180 lbs) to pallets and operate a sitdown forklift to move finished pallets to shipping and storage.Essential Skills, • 1+ year experience in chemical processing/blending/mixing operation and testing., • Familiarity and high mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools., • 6+ months experience doing setup, maintenance, or troubleshooting on machines and equipment., • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail., • Excellent shop math skills, including basic fractions, conversions, measurements, scale, and testing., • Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills., • Experience in repair, blueprint reading, pneumatics, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical tasks., • Forklift operation skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Forklift or pallet jack experience., • Experience handling hazardous materials., • Experience in testing and sampling., • Material handling skills.Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a 2nd shift industrial chemical processing environment that can get very hot during the summer. Proper ventilation and face masks are provided due to chemical and steam processing. Work involves both lower and upper levels, with loading materials on the upper level and testing, sampling, and palletizing on the lower level. Utilize forklifts, pallet jacks, and a freight elevator. Uniforms and locker rooms for men and women are provided. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62500.00/yr. Excellent medical/dental benefits (company paid 75% of medical and dental benefits) - 11 Paid Holidays and 1 floating holiday (Holidays paid day one while on contract) - Tuition reimbursement - has to be related to with current position or another position that be reasonably attainable within the company - Generous PTO/Vacation (2 weeks year one but can earn more with time) - Annually Wellness Day off with up to $100 reimbursement. - Employees will have to complete a yearly physical to be able to take a Wellness Day off.
