American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/20/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 20, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a 874-licensed-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital that also serves as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, • Patient population includes urological conditions (bladder CA, prostatectomy, kidney stones, renal CA, TURBT), GI/hepatic disorders (ESLD, liver failure, AKI/CKD, GI infections, peritoneal dialysis), pre/post-operative transplant patients (kidney, liver, pancreas), and surgical trauma cases (chest tubes, SCI, GSW, MVA, traumatic falls), • RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7–8; CNA coverage at 1:9–12, • 12-hour night shifts, 7pm–7am, 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call responsibilities for travelers, • Floating is required within the assigned region and scope of practice — candidates unwilling to float to all facilities within the region should not apply, • EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; patient monitors: Philips, • Nurses are responsible for reading and responding to telemetry monitors — no dedicated monitoring tech on unitRequirements, • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Cardiac rhythm interpretation and stroke experience required, • Proficiency with general Med/Tele skills: trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, Dobhoff/PEG tube and drain management (Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals), foley insertion/management, and PCA pumps, • Experience managing medication infusions including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF, • Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional Information, • Departmental support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy (peripheral draws only), an IV/VAT team, a resource nurse (as available), and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, • Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract, • Navy scrubs required; free parking is available on-site, • A clinical interview is required for this position, • Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
