American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/06/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 6, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work in a 34-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit at a 337-bed hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations, • Patient population includes medical and some surgical patients with diagnoses such as ESRD, CHF, pneumonia, sickle cell crisis, DKA, acute/chronic renal failure, and wound care, • Beginning Spring 2026, the unit will also serve Hematology/Oncology patients; travelers will not be required to administer chemotherapy but must be comfortable caring for this population, • Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1900–0700), 36 hours per week, • Patient ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights, with potential surge ratios of 1:7–1:8, • EMR: Epic, • IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips, • Floating is required within Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital), within scope of practice, • Every other weekend rotation required, • Travelers are expected to cover 75% of holidays, • No on-call requirementsRequirements, • Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand, • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required; ONS certification preferred but not required, • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience, • Most recent experience must be within the last year, • Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required, • Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone) preferred; manager approval required if no experience, • General Med/Surg skill set required, including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care, • Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted, • Must be willing to float to all Region 2 facilities as needed — decline if not agreeable, • One professional reference dated within the past year required, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Candidates who have held a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligibleAdditional Information, • This is a newly opened unit (January 2025) with a welcoming, psychologically safe, and just/fair culture, • Robust unit support includes CNAs (1:12 ratio), a 24/7 receptionist/HUC with EKG validation capability, charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 IV/VAT team, a dedicated unit pharmacist, two case managers, a MedSurg Clinical Nurse Specialist, 24/7 respiratory therapy, a nurse educator, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage, • Telemetry monitoring technicians are available on the unit, • Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation, • RNs are required to wear navy blue scrubs, • Parking is free, • A clinical interview is required With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
