As a team lead, you will assist with overseeing daily operations of the clinical support staff, including DAs, EFDAs, and Sterilization Techs, to ensure a welcoming, safe, and efficient patient experience. As a team lead, you will perform the duties of clinical support staff at least 50% of the time. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • Assists in the day-to-day management of the dental clinical area:, • Coordinates work assignments and schedules of clinical support staff to ensure optimum patient flow., • Actively participates in patient complaint procedures., • Ensures compliance with NH policies and procedures, Federal/State regulations (ex. OSHA, HIPAA), and other grant requirements., • Monitors and maintain dental inventory levels., • Coordinates and ensures completion of equipment maintenance, operatory readiness, and sterilization standards., • Supports schedule optimization by assisting with chair utilization, turnover efficiency, and provider support., • Promotes excellent customer service by modeling professional communication and addressing patient needs promptly., • Collaborates with providers and other leads to streamline processes and enhance overall patient experience., • Assists in ensuring department is staffed with qualified, competent employees:, • Assists with interviewing prospective employees and provides input for hiring recommendations., • Ensures proper training and orientation is provided for new staff and that ongoing competency checks for existing staff are completed., • Provides input related to performance evaluations and disciplinary actions., • Assists in ensuring the department is functioning well as a team:, • Communicates departmental goals and sets “expectations of performance.”, • Identifies, analyzes, and facilitates resolution of any issues which are a barrier to achieving goals., • Conducts huddles and other departmental meetings. Maintains meeting minutes and action plans to ensure effective communication and follow through., • Analyzes the resources (staffing, equipment, technology, etc.) available to the department and, when appropriate, recommends changes to improve efficiency., • Prepares staff timecards for payroll processing. Monitors attendance, tardiness, and overtime trends., • Performs supervisory duties in accordance with the Managers’ Standards of Conduct and NH mission/vision/values/strategic priorities.OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, • Assists with the development and supervision of the dental clinical support staff:, • Coordinates with leaders on the goals/objectives of the dental department, • Provides information and reports to clearly describe activities and progress towards agreed upon goals, as needed., • Responsible for ensuring data collection, preparing reports, answering correspondence, and compiling statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes, as required., • Ensures that patients are greeted in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner during the clinical visit., • Identify workflow or operational gaps and assist with implementing improvements to increase efficiency and quality of care., • Performs duties of dental clinical support staff, including:, • Prepares patient for the dentist’s complete examination., • Maintains and reviews patients’ records, charts, and other pertinent information including assisting with progress note documentation under the direction of the provider., • Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures., • Charts conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist., • Makes impressions of patient’s teeth for study casts., • Assists with answering and responding to the Dental Wi-Fi Phone Line., • Assists with continuously processing necessary cycles of laundry., • Provides patient education., • Assists with sterilizing instruments following infection control guidelines., • Assists with reconciliation of patient referrals., • Arrives and maintains proper invoices for all lab cases. Ensure correct charges on all invoices prior to approval. Updates patient appointment once lab case has been confirmed as arrived., • Assists with maintenance of dental equipment (i.e., lab trays, pouring models, etc.)., • Assists with collecting and preparing the biohazard material for removal., • Checks appointment schedule and assists front desk staff with patient schedules., • Takes dental radiographs., • Delivers nitrous oxide, when appropriate/indicated, under the direct supervision of a Dentist, if applicable., • Performs expanded, restoration functions, if applicable., • Performs expanded, preventative functions, if applicable., • Prepares periodic reports of work accomplished and compiles specific statistical data, as needed., • Attends and participates in meetings and in-services as required. Participates in professional development activities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Training High School diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent training. Completion of EFDA program preferred. Experience Minimum of two years of dental assisting experience preferred. Minimum of one year of supervisory responsibility preferred. Certification Dental Radiography license.
