Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities • Communicates with foremen to determine daily material needs, • Coordinates with suppliers, plant manager, logistics, and vendors to order aggregates, liquid binder, repair parts, and supplies, • Schedules and supervises loader operators and ground crew, • Performs and oversees daily maintenance and repairs, • Completes daily plant recordkeeping and production reporting, • Operates plant computer systems to manage production and load trucks, • Monitors material temperature, quality, and adjusts production as needed, • Performs preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment, • Works with Maintenance Manager to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, • Maintains system logs and documentation for testing and operations, • Assists with new equipment installations and modifications, • Works at heights up to 100 feet and performs physical repair tasks using tools and machinery, • Ensures site safety for all personnel and equipment, • Assists others in department as needed, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, • Decision-making and problem-solving ability, • Competence in operating and maintaining technical equipment, • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments, • Basic math and measurement skills, • Dependability, reliability, and strong work ethic, • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, • Safety-first mindset and ability to use PPE, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Flexibility to adapt to changing demand and schedules, • Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform climbing, kneeling, crouching, and balancing tasks, • High School Diploma or GED required, • Previous experience with motors, pulleys, belts, hydraulics, welding, electrical, or plant operations preferred, • Mechanical troubleshooting and heavy equipment experience preferred, • Membership in or willingness to join the local operating engineers union highly desired, • Lifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs occasionally, • Pushing/Pulling: Up to 50 lbs occasionally, • Driving: Occasional use of both automatic manual and transmission vehicles., • Movement Requirements: Frequent standing, sitting, and keyboarding; occasional walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, crawling, and reaching above shoulder level, • Plant-based work environment, • Frequent interaction with foremen, superintendents, QC/QA lab, Safety, HR, Accounting, and other internal departments, • Work pace varies with asphalt demand, • Must be able to work long hours, weekends, and nights as needed, • Directly supervise and manage plant personnel including Loader Operators and Ground Crew, • Provide leadership, performance feedback, training, and direction to ensure safe and efficient plant operations, • How to Apply: At Brooks Construction Company, we believe in building more than roads-we build careers, communities, and a legacy of excellence. POSITION SUMMARY The Human Resources Manager serves as the link between HR strategy and daily operations, supporting the Director of Human Resources in leading and executing core people initiatives across the organization. It consists of a base salary plus the opportunity for quarterly profit sharing after one year of employment. RESPONSIBILITIES Employee Experience & Engagement • Lead employee engagement and retention initiatives that reinforce company culture and values., • Partner with the Director of HR to plan and execute HR events, appreciation programs, and wellness initiatives., • Analyze feedback from surveys and exit interviews to identify trends and recommend improvements., • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to ensure a seamless hiring and onboarding process., • Oversee onboarding logistics, new hire orientation, and early-stage engagement (30/60/90-day check-ins)., • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance., • Partner with the Director of HR to execute the annual performance review process, ensuring timely completion and quality feedback., • Track development plans and succession activities to align with organizational growth goals., • Maintain and ensure accuracy of data within HRIS, benefits, and payroll systems., • Develop standard operating procedures for HR processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency., • Support compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices., • Conduct periodic audits of HR files, benefits data, and compliance documentation., • Promote cross-functional collaboration with payroll, safety, and operations teams., • Contribute to HR projects, programs, and initiatives that drive organizational improvement. REQUIREMENTS MUST HAVE • Bachelor's degree in HR, Communication, business, or a related field., • 5-7 years' experience in Human Resources, • Ability to work with highly sensitive information and consistently demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality., • Ability to operate independently, using critical thinking and good judgment to make decisions., • Track record of building strong and collaborative relationships, • Ability to balance the needs of employees and the business needs of the organization., • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, COBRA, etc.), • Experience managing benefits, onboarding, and HRIS systems (e.g., Paylocity, HiBob), • Strong skills in the Microsoft Suite of Products – Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passionate customer service mentality., • Experience with 9-box and 360 evaluations., • Experience with succession planning., • Experience with Paylocity, HiBob, and Greenhouse.
