Job Description Overview A a growing and highly regarded elder law and estate planning firm, is seeking an experienced, organized, and proactive professional to join our team in a Senior Paralegal / Senior Legal Assistant capacity. This role is designed for a seasoned candidate who can operate in a fast-paced environment, take ownership of responsibilities, and play a key role in both case management and firm operations. Depending on experience and skillset, the successful candidate will function in either a Senior Paralegal position (legal drafting and case management focused) or a Senior Legal Assistant position (operations, client management, and workflow focused). You will work directly with the managing attorney and become an integral part of the firm’s continued growth. Practice Areas • Estate Planning (Wills, Revocable & Irrevocable Trusts, Advance Directives), • Probate & Estate Administration, • Guardianships (Article 81 & Article 17-A), • Medicaid Planning & Applications, • Special Needs Planning Senior Paralegal Position (Legal / Case Management Focus) For candidates with strong drafting skills and experience managing matters from intake through completion. Key Responsibilities • Draft and prepare complex legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies, • Prepare probate and administration petitions, accountings, and supporting filings, • Assist with guardianship proceedings and court submissions, • Support Medicaid applications, eligibility analysis, and document collection, • Manage probate and estate administration matters from intake through final distribution, • Communicate with clients, courts, and third parties, • Track deadlines and ensure timely filings and compliance Qualifications • 2–5+ years of experience in estate planning, probate, elder law, or related field, • Strong familiarity with New York Surrogate’s Court procedures preferred, • Experience with Medicaid or guardianship matters strongly preferred, • Ability to manage multiple matters independently Senior Legal Assistant position (Operations / Client Management Focus) For candidates who excel in organization, scheduling, and keeping a law firm running efficiently.
