Job Description Aerospace Electronics Assembly & Printed Circuit Board Fabrication Specialist II Position Summary The Aerospace Electronics Assembly & Printed Circuit Board Fabrication Specialist performs hands-on assembly, fabrication, rework, inspection support, and manufacturing activities for aerospace cable assemblies, wire harnesses, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), electronic hardware, and electromechanical products within an AS9100-aligned aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role supports high-reliability manufacturing operations requiring precision workmanship, manufacturing traceability, IPC compliance, configuration control, and adherence to aerospace and defense quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional duties to support operational needs. Core Manufacturing Responsibilities • Assemble aerospace cable assemblies, wire harnesses, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), and electromechanical hardware., • Perform soldering, crimping, connector installation, cable preparation, labeling, and hardware integration activities., • Follow manufacturing travelers, assembly notes, as-built records, and production support documentation., • Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs (Bill of Materials), assembly instructions, work instructions, and customer documentation., • Perform rework, repair, modification, and touch-up activities in accordance with IPC workmanship standards., • Support prototype builds, first article builds, engineering development activities, and rapid hardware iterations., • Operate soldering stations, crimp tools, microscopes, continuity testers, precision hand tools, and related manufacturing equipment., • Support troubleshooting and fault isolation activities for assemblies and production test failures., • Maintain ESD (Electrostatic discharge) compliance, workstation cleanliness, and controlled manufacturing practices., • Support inventory tracking, material traceability, and configuration control activities., • Maintain manufacturing traceability, as-built documentation, and workmanship records in accordance with AS9100 and customer requirements. (AS9100 is a globally recognized Quality Management System (QMS) standard specifically designed for the aviation, aerospace, and defense manufacturing industries), • Support incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities as required., • Work directly with team members to develop and refine production procedures for first-time builds and rapid hardware iterations., • Follow all safety, export control, workmanship, and quality requirements., • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED (required)., • Some college preferred however not required., • Minimum 6 years of hands-on electronics assembly or aerospace cable manufacturing experience., • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly documentation, and manufacturing instructions., • Experience with soldering, crimping, cable preparation, connector integration, and electromechanical assembly., • Certified or willing to obtain IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610 workmanship standards., • Ability to distinguish wire colors and identify small electronic components., • Experience working in high-reliability aerospace or defense manufacturing environments preferred., • U.S. Citizenship required under ITAR/EAR., • Ability to pass background check and drug screening., • Compliance with workplace safety, export control, and quality standards including ITAR/EAR, OSHA, AS9100, IPC-A-610, and IPC/WHMA-A-620. Required / Preferred Certifications Required • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification (required or must obtain), • ESD handling and workmanship training Preferred • IPC-A-610 Certification, • J-STD-001 Certification, • Aerospace manufacturing experience, • Cable fabrication or wire harness integration experience Work Environment & Physical Requirements • Ability to lift 35 lbs. unassisted., • Excellent hand-eye coordination for handling tiny components and complex wire routing., • Ability to distinguish colors (wire colors) for aerospace wiring applications., • Periods of standing, sitting, repetitive motion, and microscope work., • Compliance with PPE requirements and ESD (Electrostatic discharge) controls., • Work schedules may include standard or modified shifts based on production needs., • Work performed within a controlled aerospace manufacturing environment. Compensation & Classification • This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)., • Paid Sick Leave is administered in accordance with the New Mexico Healthy Workplaces Act., • Compensation depends on verifiable job experience and education. Employment Conditions • This is a full-time, on-site position operating on a 40-hour standard work week with the exception of occasional additional hours due to productivity needs., • This position is offered with a 6-month probationary period., • Applicants seeking subcontract or remote work will not be considered., • Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screening, including applicable pre-employment medical assessments, and the Protected Logic multi-stage interview and assessment process.
