Job Description Job Summary: (Part Time) Aprox 20-25 hrs /week Mondays to Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Number of days can be negotiable This is an evening job during the week for the entire year. This is NOT a seasonal job. In this position, you will be responsible for supervising, training, coaching, developing and retaining a dynamic swim instructor team, as well as, teach/cover whenever needed. If you are not current in your certifications, we will invest on making you current This will result in the retention, success, and positive customer experience for our students and families in the British Swim School Aquatics Program. Results are achieved through analysis, strategic planning, execution and leadership, promoting a fun and gentle approach to student engagement and progression. Maintaining a high level of brand standards across the program is essential for success. A passion and love of the water and working with children is a must! Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Enthusiastic, assertive personality with strong relationship and customer service skills ● Effective and influential team leadership in a fun environment built on trust, • Written and oral communication skills, • Strong aquatics acumen with collaboration skills and desire to grow, • Disciplined to forward-plan, program, follow and enforce schedules, company policies and enforce safety procedures based on Franchise expectations, • Ability to lead, supervise, train and coach associates, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments, • Critical thinking, problem solving, analysis and strategic planning, • Able to demonstrate and/or have knowledge of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly swim strokes, • Computer literacy skills - ability to learn how to operate and navigate software including email, training, class management, and scheduling platforms, • Growth mindset Roles and Responsibilities Reports to and communicates directly with the Franchise Business Owner • Support hiring, supervise, train, coach, develop and retain a dynamic team of swim instructors, • Identify areas of opportunity, develop and execute action plans to address challenges and improve results in customer retention, revenue and expense containment through aquatics employees, • Conduct training, reviews, recognition and individual development of aquatics staff, • Manage underperforming aquatics associates utilizing personal improvement plans, coaching and disciplinary tools to improve or terminate unsatisfactory performance with consultation of Franchise Business Owner and Human Resources Manager where applicable, • Manage staff schedule of aquatics team including time off requests, • Conduct classes if/when needed, • Communicate with customers and resolve any issues during the shift in a timely manner, • Communicate with children in an effective and appropriate manner, • Communicate with caretakers of children on deck - updating them on the swimming progress of their children, answering their questions, listening to and addressing their concerns, • Ensure classes and training adhere to current company brand standards, • Ensure pool locations have proper inventory of supplies for lessons, • Ensure that all water and safety standards are maintained at the pools, • Attending appropriate ongoing training locally and with corporate, • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Franchise Business Owner Time distribution: • ONGOING: Discuss Aquatic needs with Aquatic Director (props, merchandise, training). • SLING: Monthly/Weekly scheduling of instructors draft based on instructor feedback at the pool – Paid as an addl. 1 hour per day (remote), • Flag any instructor sickness and find coverage – redirect to HR and management purposes, • Jackrabbit: before or after shift on deck Update skills in system when approving a move up at the pool, • Monthly/weekly assignment of instructors in JR, • Lead with shift recaps., • Fully train new instructors according to program standards (in-water)., • Classboard set up on deck following daily plan. • DURING SHIFT: • Team Huddles: (In & out): 1. IN: Work with team huddle updates and board review., • OUT: Support instructors with skill updates., • Support instructors between classes (corrections, skill updates, progression issues)., • Be a final tester of move ups/flag them in recap (instructors can flag when a child is ready but are not to move a child to next level without lead sign off)., • If/when available, support over booked classes in the water and/or with difficult children., • PREVENT INCIDENTS – FLAG OR STOP ANY ACTIVITY YOU DON’T FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH ASSIST WHERE YOU CAN., • Work with HR on coaching reports of instructors at least Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience, • American Red Cross Lifeguard or equivalent, • CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification, • Successful completion of aquatics leadership training through British Swim School Corporate Job Type: Part-time Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour Benefits: • Certifications, • Flexible schedule Experience: • Management: 1 year (Required), • Swimming: 5 years (Required) Work Location: In person Company DescriptionBritish Swim School is the premier survival and stroke development swim lesson provider for families in Worcester, Paxton, Auburn, Westborough, Grafton, Leicester and the surrounding areas!
