Job DescriptionJob Title: MachinistJob Description As a machinist, you will utilize precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathes, manual milling machines, drill presses, hydraulic presses, and band saws to fabricate and shape parts out of metal. You will be responsible for selecting, aligning, securing, and removing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines safely and properly. This role requires you to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, determine the proper tools required to perform tasks, and operate lifting aids as necessary. You will use gauges and precision measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements, perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks on machinery, and track parts and jobs in Travelers. Responsibilities • Utilize precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathes, manual milling machines, drill presses, hydraulic presses, and band saws., • Fabricate and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal., • Select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines., • Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling., • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints., • Determine the proper tools required for tasks., • Operate lifting aids as necessary., • Use gauges and precision measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements., • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks on machinery., • Track parts and jobs in Travelers., • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and rules.Essential Skills, • 6-10 years total job shop experience., • Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane., • Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required., • Micrometer and caliper experience., • Familiarity with heavy industrial lathes, grinders, boring mills, planers, and portable tools.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Programming experience is a plus., • Large part machining experience preferred (ship propeller shafting, ship steering gear, etc.).
