Job DescriptionJob Title: Trailer TechnicianJob Description As a Trailer Technician, you will perform preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on trailers, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards. You will diagnose and repair air brake systems, electrical/lighting, suspensions, landing gear, doors, floors, and frames. Additionally, you will conduct wheel-end service and tire repairs/replacements, complete structural repairs, and utilize diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, and service software to document work orders accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on trailers., • Diagnose and repair air brake systems, electrical/lighting, suspensions, landing gear, doors, floors, and frames., • Conduct wheel-end service and tire repairs/replacements., • Complete structural repairs, including minor welding/cutting and patching., • Use diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, and service software for accurate documentation., • Identify parts needs and coordinate with parts team to source/order components., • Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all safety and environmental procedures., • Support urgent/emergency repairs and assist with on-site/yard calls as needed., • Collaborate with supervisors and dispatch to prioritize equipment and reduce out-of-service time.Essential Skills, • 1–3+ years of experience as a Trailer Mechanic, Diesel/Heavy Equipment Tech, or similar role., • Strong working knowledge of air brake systems, electrical (12V), suspensions, and trailer chassis., • Ability to read and follow work orders, service manuals, and wiring diagrams., • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record., • Own a standard set of mechanic’s hand tools.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Basic welding and cutting skills (MIG/Stick/Oxy-Acetylene)., • CDL is a plus., • TWIC card or ability to obtain one promptly., • Comfortable using a tablet or computer to close work orders and time entries.
