Job DescriptionSalary: The Center for People is a dynamic non-profit organization that provides innovative services and programs to the low-income community in Lincoln, Nebraska, addressing basic needs and providing opportunities to achieve economic independence for our clients. The Corporate Development and Training Manager is responsible for generating revenue to support the Center for Peoples mission of building connections that break cycles of poverty. This role strengthens and expands relationships with businesses, employers, corporate partners, and community organizations to promote fee-based services and advance workforce development initiatives. The Corporate Development and Training Manager leads the development, sale, and facilitation of professional development offeringsincluding Gallup CliftonStrengths-based learning upon certificationand provides high-quality training experiences for corporate and nonprofit partners. This position plays a key role in fund development efforts, serving on the Board-Level Fund Development Committee and participating in weekly internal fund development meetings. The role also supports the organizations emerging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) model, helping integrate CSR-driven partnerships, training engagements, and revenue strategies into the Centers broader mission and financial sustainability goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Business Development, Sponsorships & Revenue Growth • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with businesses, employers, and agencies to promote and sell fee-based services such as Gallup Strengths trainings, professional development workshops, RentWise courses, and additional revenue-generating programs., • Develop and execute corporate engagement and sponsorship strategies aligned with organizational fundraising goals., • Represent the Center for People at business, civic, and networking events to promote partnership opportunities and expand awareness of services., • Negotiate and close contracts or service agreements for paid trainings, workshops, sponsorships, and partnership programs., • Obtain Gallup Strengths Coach certification (organization-supported) within 90 days of hire, and integrate strengths-based approaches into training offerings., • Design, customize, and deliver high-quality training experiences for corporate partners, nonprofit organizations, workforce development partners, and internal teams., • Facilitate virtual and in-person workshops focused on leadership, communication, customer service, organizational culture, and employer-specific needs., • Actively support the development and implementation of the Centers emerging CSR model., • Cultivate and manage CSR-aligned relationships with companies engaged in community impact, workforce development, and philanthropic collaboration., • Offer training, consultation, and capacity-building services that enhance employer involvement in CSR-driven initiatives., • Build strategic relationships with HR leaders, small business owners, and workforce partners to promote engagement with Center for People initiatives., • Assist employers with onboarding, talent development alignment, and participation in workforce development offerings., • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure that training logistics, schedules, and partner expectations are met., • Serve as a core member of the Board-Level Fund Development Committee, providing expertise on corporate partnerships, sponsorship pipelines, and earned revenue activities., • Participate in weekly internal fund development meetings to ensure alignment across fundraising, sponsorship, and employer engagement efforts., • Support donor cultivation, proposals, and presentations that connect corporate training and CSR partnerships to impact and revenue goals., • Collaborate with the Education team to align employer engagement, training content, and revenue strategies., • Track leads, prospects, proposals, contracts, and revenue outcomes using CRM tools; maintain accurate records and provide regular reporting., • Gather feedback from clients to evaluate training quality and identify areas for program improvement., • Maintain flexibility with work hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for trainings, events, or networking opportunities., • Represent the Center for People as a mission ambassador in all professional and community settings., • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills., • Strong sales acumen with the ability to identify opportunities, close deals, and meet revenue goals., • Certified or willing to become certified in Gallup StrengthsFinder facilitation within 90 days of hire., • Experience delivering training, workshops, or presentations to professional audiences., • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM or donor management systems (e.g., Bloomerang, Blackbaud)., • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently while collaborating across departments., • Commitment to the mission and values of the Center for People. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelors degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred., • Minimum of three years of experience in sales, business development, training facilitation, or workforce partnerships., • Experience selling or facilitating professional development, training, or consulting services., • Existing network or experience working with local businesses, chambers of commerce, or employer associations. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, such as boxes of pantry supplies, cooking equipment, or educational materials, as well as extended periods of standing during cooking demonstrations and workshops. The position also involves occasional setup and breakdown of event spaces, including moving tables, chairs, or cooking equipment. The Specialist will work closely with individuals and families experiencing poverty, requiring empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity. Regular collaboration with volunteers, pantry staff, community leaders, and organizational partners is an integral part of the role. Adherence to food safety and handling protocols is essential during workshops and food preparation activities, as well as compliance with workplace health and safety guidelines when working in community spaces.
