Job Description The Network Engineer provides advanced-level network infrastructure support, focusing on the design, implementation, and management of secure, high-performance data networks at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. This role works closely with the Sr. Network Engineer and is responsible for firewall policy development, network hardware configuration, VMware and SAN support, and cross-platform systems integration. The position plays a key role in maintaining the security, stability, and efficiency of enterprise-level IT environments, including both Windows and Unix/Linux systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides support for Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) and enterprise network security., • Serves as a subject matter expert on firewall and border security technologies and configurations., • Manages Active Directory, VMware environments, and EMC SAN storage infrastructure., • Installs, configures, and maintains security systems, VPNs (IPSec/SSL), DNS, DHCP, routers, and switches., • Designs, installs, and supports network infrastructure including Windows, SQL, Linux, Unix, VoIP, and virtualization platforms., • Conducts configuration auditing, patching, and version control for firewalls and edge devices., • Oversees support and maintenance of A/V, lighting systems, telephony, and communication systems., • Develops and executes disaster recovery and business continuity procedures, including configuration backups and recovery validation., • Researches and evaluates emerging networking technologies, providing recommendations to leadership., • Documents network architecture, cabling layouts, and system configurations., • Leads projects involving hardware upgrades, security audits, and enterprise system integrations., • Provides Tier 3 escalation support for outages, incidents, and service interruptions., • Interfaces with vendors, service providers, and internal departments to coordinate security and connectivity solutions., • Participates in an on-call rotation and supports essential business operations after hours., • Provides guidance, training, and mentoring to junior technical staff., • Assists in team performance management, goal-setting, and policy enforcement., • Strong technical expertise in networking protocols, security technologies, and enterprise system architecture., • Hands-on experience with Cisco hardware, firewall platforms, DNS, DHCP, and WAN optimization tools., • Proficient in VMware environments, SAN management, Windows and Linux/Unix servers., • Advanced understanding of routing/switching (Layer 2/3), firewalls, IDS/IPS, and wireless networks., • Skilled in interpreting network diagrams and implementing system configurations based on specifications., • Strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of technical and non-technical collaboration., • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required., • Certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or Juniper Networks Certified Associate are preferred., • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in network engineering, architecture, or infrastructure support., • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network solutions, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless systems., • Strong understanding of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), subnetting, VPNs, VLANs, and QoS configurations., • Experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and optimization tools., • Ability to lead network projects, support high-availability systems, and ensure network security and compliance. Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing with IT staff, vendors, management, and cross-functional teams; responsible for documenting network configurations, coordinating projects, and explaining technical issues and solutions., • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and transports networking hardware, servers, cabling, and tools weighing up to 40 pounds; may assist with equipment installation, infrastructure builds, or on-site upgrades., • Manual Dexterity: Regularly uses hands and fingers to install and terminate cabling, configure network devices, operate diagnostic tools, and input detailed information into network management systems., • Mobility: Frequently moves throughout IT offices, data centers, wiring closets, and operational property spaces to deploy, inspect, and troubleshoot network infrastructure; may be required to kneel, crouch, or climb ladders to access elevated or confined equipment areas., • Stationary Work: Occasionally remains seated for extended periods while designing network architecture, configuring systems, or responding to alerts from a monitoring workstation., • Tool Operation: Regular use of laptops, patch panels, cable testers, network analyzers, firewalls, switches, routers, configuration software, and standard office tools., • Visual Acuity: Requires excellent near and distance vision to read network diagrams, monitor performance dashboards, review configurations, and detect physical and digital abnormalities in network systems. This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions. WORKING HOURS: Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
