Job Description Job Title: HVAC Service Technician Job Description Join a dependable residential HVAC team serving homeowners and residential properties throughout the Peoria, Illinois area. As an HVAC Service Technician, you perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations for heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems in apartments, single-family homes, and renovation and new construction projects. You travel throughout the Peoria area, working in both occupied and vacant units, delivering high-quality service and a positive customer experience. Responsibilities • Perform preventative maintenance on residential HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment., • Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC system issues using electrical and mechanical skills to identify root causes., • Complete repairs on HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, furnaces, boilers, and related components., • Install and replace HVAC systems and components in apartments, single-family homes, and residential renovation projects., • Perform HVAC work on new construction projects, including system setup, duct work, and equipment installation., • Read and interpret HVAC plans, blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals to complete installations and repairs accurately., • Travel throughout the Peoria, IL area to perform field service in both occupied and vacant residential units., • Work in a variety of environments, including attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and mechanical rooms, to access HVAC equipment., • Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively for installation, service, and repair tasks., • Document work performed, communicate findings, and provide clear recommendations to customers or supervisors., • Manage daily service schedules, prioritize tasks, and work independently to complete assigned jobs on time., • Deliver professional customer service, communicate clearly with residents and property representatives, and address questions or concerns., • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems., • Collaborate with team members and, when applicable, assist with mentoring apprentices or less experienced technicians. Essential Skills • EPA Universal 608 Certification (required)., • Minimum 2 years of residential HVAC experience., • Strong knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems., • Experience performing preventative maintenance on residential HVAC systems., • Experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems and components., • Experience with HVAC installations and replacements in residential settings., • Ability to read and interpret HVAC plans, diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals., • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Peoria, IL area., • Ability to work independently and manage daily service schedules effectively., • Strong customer service and communication skills when interacting with residents and property contacts., • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools used for HVAC installation, service, and repair., • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with HVAC system components, duct work, and air conditioning systems., • Basic understanding of electrical and refrigeration principles related to HVAC systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and HVAC controls., • Sheet metal fabrication experience, including working with duct work., • Handyman or general maintenance experience, such as carpentry, drywall, painting, or plumbing., • NATE Certification., • Experience with smart thermostats and modern HVAC control systems., • Experience as a universal maintenance technician in residential environments., • Ability to mentor apprentices or less experienced technicians and support their development., • Experience working on construction sites and coordinating HVAC work with other trades., • Comfort using service management tools or systems to track work orders and schedules.
