Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipping & Receiving SpecialistJob Overview The Shipping & Receiving Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring products move efficiently and accurately through the warehouse. This position is responsible for processing inbound and outbound shipments, picking and preparing customer orders, and maintaining detailed shipping and receiving records. You will work with tools such as a Microsoft Surface tablet, RF scanners, and standard warehouse equipment to support on-time, accurate deliveries. Key Responsibilities • Pick customer orders using a Microsoft Surface tablet and warehouse systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness, • Deliver picked orders to the shipping and receiving area for final processing, • Assemble, package, weigh, and label products for shipment, ensuring proper protection and compliance, • Select appropriate shipping methods, routes, and rates based on shipment requirements, • Coordinate with carrier representatives to schedule shipments and provide delivery instructions, • Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including logs, bills of lading, weights, and charges, • Receive incoming shipments of raw materials and supplies, verifying accuracy against bills of lading and invoices, • Record and track received materials, reporting shortages or damaged items promptly, • Route materials to internal departments using hand trucks, conveyors, or staging bins, • Process customer returns by receiving, verifying, and routing returned products, • Operate warehouse equipment such as sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and stretch wrappers (training provided as needed), • Load and unload trucks and stage pallets for shipment and storage, • Support general warehouse operations, including material handling, inventory support, and housekeeping, • Communicate professionally with internal teams and external partners to support strong customer serviceRequired Qualifications, • Minimum of 1 year of experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations, • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook, • General proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation and communication, • Experience or strong aptitude for customer service and professional communication, • Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes such as order picking, packing, and material handling, • Experience using RF scanners or the ability to learn quickly, • Ability to accurately handle shipping documents including bills of lading and invoices, • Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsPreferred Skills & Experience, • Forklift experience, including sit-down forklifts (or willingness to be trained), • Experience using pallet jacks and stretch wrappers, • Familiarity with shipping platforms and carriers such as FedEx, • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on warehouse environment An on-site workout area is available for both contractors and employees, with access during paid time. Work Environment This facility provides corrosion protection solutions for industries including petrochemical, metalworking, utilities, construction, military and government, marine, automotive, and equipment maintenance. The warehouse operates with a small, close-knit team of four to five individuals. The shipping and warehouse areas are clean, organized, and separate from the main production floor. Employees work with hand trucks, conveyors, pallet jacks, stretch wrappers, forklifts (training available), RF scanners, and Microsoft Surface tablets. Expectations are straightforward: arrive on time, work safely, and contribute consistently in a hands-on, team-oriented environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
