Job Description SUMMARY: Responsible for analyzing malfunctions, the repair of, calibration, inspection, overhaul, modification, re‐ programming, maintenance support and operation of simulators, trainers, computers and digital image visual systems. This position requires working any shift (day, swing or mids) as required for successful operations of the C‐5 Aircrew Training (ATS). ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Must be qualified, trained, and knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of the equipment., • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems, those typically solved by properly interpreting maintenance manuals or similar documents., • Assists in the design of hardware system modifications and software programs to stay current with aircraft configuration and to improve simulator operability., • Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities., • Assist students and instructors in the operation of the training devices to include DMO activities (e.g. set up, power‐on/off, daily operational readiness testing, initialization, and other assistance as required)., • Operates WST/CPT as an aircrew member (pilot, copilot, flight engineer, or instructor positions) to evaluate operation of all systems., • Capable of interpreting and working with computer systems utilizing various and multiple operating systems., • Prepare the system for operation IAW on‐site operational and technical manuals and execute other functions as required by the training system instructor/student., • Diagnose and resolve problems associated with the initialization or operation during each training mission., • In the absence of the Tech III, may assume shift lead duties to coordinate shift personnel to ensure scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, unscheduled maintenance, and data tracking are performed to specifications., • Diagnoses malfunctions of computers and associated equipment and performs operability/readiness tests and repair., • Performs systems interface/fault isolation., • Performs trouble analysis and final alignment of multisystem complexes consisting of several complete integrated systems., • Applies fundamental troubleshooting procedures in the maintenance of interfaces and peripheral equipment used with computers., • Extensive practical knowledge of the theories and practices of electronic circuits, computer theory, hydraulic or pneumatic control and power systems, and many other areas covering a wide range of system applications., • Conducts voice communications on phone, interphone and radio circuits., • Prepares ATS equipment in preparation for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) level certification inspections., • Install and maintain Computer Based Training (CBT) networks, servers and workstations., • Provides networking and information systems support on training devices and networks., • Adhere to health, safety, security, and local base procedures., • Implements basic modifications to existing simulators., • Performs other duties as assigned., • Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Technical/Associates Degree is desired with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as a flight simulator technician or equivalent job‐related experience. Aircraft maintenance work experience with in an Aerospace Repair shop environment and an Airframe & Propulsion license (highly desired). Knowledge of commonly‐used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional literature. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, and colleagues. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematical skills. COMPUTER SKILLS: Experienced and proficient in the use of standard Personal Computer productivity software tools including word processors, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, project management, and databases. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. CITIZENSHIP: U.S. Citizenship. Must be able to obtain a Secret Level Clearance OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Familiar with basic and advanced pieces of specialized tools and test equipment such, as O‐Scopes, function generators, DVM, torque wrenches, etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
