Location: We have an opportunity for a Sludge Logistics Optimiser to join the Bioresources at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? This is role is a flexible hybrid arrangement, although there is an expectation you will spend 2 days on site at Knostrop WWTW in Leeds, where you will be based. The Sludge Logistics Optimiser forms an integral of a small multi-skilled flexible technical and operation team focused on continually improving the sludge logistics solution for Yorkshire Water, delivering strong commercial, legal and service value for Yorkshire Water. Where you fit in: As our Sludge Logistics Optimiser, you will: Facilitate the integration of logistics spend into a commercially driven cost-effective solution for Yorkshire Water across the entire business, linking into bioresources strategic programme. Ensure Waste Carriers Licence responsibilities are carried out and are auditable from third party provider to satisfy EA regulations and the Yorkshire Water regulations team, including audit/spot checks of operation on Yorkshire Water sites. Undertake investigations, understand root causes of underlying performance problems and cost/implement solutions, influencing and persuading stakeholders to deliver the best solution for Yorkshire Water. Take personal responsibility to deliver real TOTEX cost savings for the business, challenging contractual and internal KPIs to ensure best value for the business. Main point of contact between Yorkshire Water operations/onsite contractors and third-party provider dealing with demand planning for sludge logistics from over 650 sites with several different sludge products. Contribute to medium/long term tactical and strategic forecasting of business plans and delivery schedules ensuring alignment with sludge strategy. Able to flex across several workstations within the multi-skilled team with a wide range of responsibilities from operations, finance, legal compliance, strategic planning, business integration and project delivery. Managing the process of income/ volume demand / reporting / recording and ensuring sludge supply to achieve energy generation targets to satisfy both internal and regulation requirements for reporting. Using experience and technical knowledge of regulation requirements, legal compliance and sludge processes to audit key areas of service within contract such as legal compliance, duty of care compliance, H&S training compliance etc. Ensure that robust financial management and commercial awareness form the foundation of all business decisions, and this is shared with the wider business. Identifying where value is not being realised and presenting alternative commercial solutions to Sludge Operations Manager. Compliance and utilization of all appropriate technical IT systems, including SAP, SCADA, RTS, JRP, Fleet Telematics and Tacho systems. Accountable to deliver attributed projects from Sludge Operations Manager or Bioresources department, building an implementation plan working with key stakeholders and tracking benefits. Working with third party to deliver on commitments for joint initiatives and improvement schemes with operational improvements, strategic resource deployment and innovations in vehicle technology. Investigation and development in line with team and business strategic goals to improve internal business maturity, simultaneously managing several improvement projects, continued operational excellence and cultural change. Liaise as point of contract with public to address and ensure resolution with any customer contacts to drive positive C-MEX interactions. What skills & qualifications you will need: Technical knowledge of logistics or waste management, demand modelling and optimization, ideally from a water industry or environmental services background. Proven track record of deliveringcost savingsand improving operational performance. Ability toanalyse problems, find root causes, and implement cost-effective solutions. Strongdata management and reportingskills to support energy generation and regulatory needs. Skilled inforecasting and strategic planningfor medium and long-term goals. Experience working withthird-party contractorsand managing service delivery. Strongplanning and coordinationskills to manage sludge logistics across different sites. Ability to analyse complex data sets to identify underperformance and propose and implement solutions Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and gaining agreement for improvement and action Commercial awareness with a focus on cost savings and value for money. Good communication skills to deal withcustomer queriesand ensure positive outcomes.
