Sue Ross Recruitment are delighted to be working with a long-standing organisation within the debt recovery sector as they continue to expand their friendly and supportive Litigation team based just north of Sheffield City Centre. Our client is part of a wider UK group employing over 500 people nationwide and is now seeking a dynamic Litigation Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join their growing department. In this varied and hands-on position, you will personally manage a defended caseload, utilising a case management system to progress matters efficiently and effectively. You will review complex or high-value pre-legal debts, assess suitability for litigation, and take ownership of claims across small claims, fast track, intermediate and multi-track. You will draft pleadings, prepare witness statements, produce court bundles, and act as a trusted advisor to clients—offering strategic recommendations, assessing prospects of success, and helping resolve disputes and reasons for non‑payment. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the confidence to communicate with individuals at all levels. You will also collaborate with courts, enforcement agencies, and external suppliers to maintain excellent service delivery. Workstreams may include: • Breach of contract, • Insolvency actions (Bankruptcy/Winding Up Petitions), • Return of goods claims, • Plus opportunities to work on niche or specialist areas depending on your experience Continuous learning is strongly encouraged, and if of interest, you can contribute to training, development, and quality improvement across the department. To succeed in this role, you will need: • A law degree or equivalent legal qualification, • Qualification as a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive, • Practical experience in debt collection, • Previous experience managing defended Small Claims Track matters (preferred), • Strong IT skills and willingness to learn new systems, • Effective problem‑solving abilities and sound judgement, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Confidence handling phone communication, • Ability to work to targets and tight deadlines, • A collaborative, enthusiastic approach with a willingness to support colleagues, • Professionalism in giving and receiving feedback Service quality is paramount, and our client values openness, accountability, and a supportive working environment.
