    Purpose of the Role To take full responsibility for the leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of a 3‑bed EBD children’s home. The Registered Manager ensures the delivery of high‑quality, trauma‑informed care in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted’s Quality Standards. The role is accountable for safeguarding, staff development, operational excellence, and achieving positive outcomes for children. Key Responsibilities 1. Leadership & Operational Management • Provide strong, child‑centred leadership that promotes safety, stability, and emotional wellbeing., • Ensure the home operates in full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards., • Maintain and regularly review the Statement of Purpose., • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational systems., • Ensure the home is adequately staffed at all times and manage the rota effectively., • Oversee health & safety, fire safety, and environmental risk management. 2. Safeguarding & Risk Management • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the home., • Ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported, recorded, and escalated appropriately., • Lead on risk assessments and behaviour support planning., • Maintain oversight of incidents, patterns, and trends to reduce risk and improve outcomes. 3. Staff Management & Development • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop the residential care team., • Provide monthly reflective supervision and annual appraisals., • Build a positive, supportive team culture grounded in trauma‑informed practice., • Manage staff performance, under‑performance, and professional conduct. 4. Care Planning & Child Outcomes • Oversee admissions, ensuring suitability and compatibility with existing residents., • Lead on care plans, placement plans, behaviour plans, and risk assessments., • Ensure children’s health, education, identity, and emotional needs are met., • Promote independence, life skills, and community engagement., • Maintain strong relationships with social workers, families, schools, and external agencies. 5. Quality Assurance & Compliance • Maintain high standards of recording, auditing, and regulatory compliance., • Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and respond to regulatory feedback., • Complete Regulation 45 reports and contribute to continuous improvement., • Ensure all decisions are clearly recorded on children’s files. 6. Financial & Resource Management • Manage budgets, staffing costs, and resources effectively., • Ensure the home operates sustainably and within financial parameters., • Oversee procurement, maintenance, and external contracts. 7. On‑Call & Availability • Participate in the on‑call rota to support staff and respond to emergencies., • Provide flexible working hours when required to meet the needs of the home. Person Specification Essential • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior role within children’s residential care., • Strong understanding of trauma, attachment, and EBD behaviours., • Excellent safeguarding knowledge and decision‑making skills., • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a staff team., • Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills., • Ability to work flexibly, including on‑call duties., • Commitment to child‑centred, therapeutic practice. Desirable • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Residential Childcare) or willingness to complete., • Experience opening or developing a new children’s home., • Full UK driving licence.
