Youth Justice Officer Location: Sandmartin House, Bittern Way, Fletton Quays, PE2 8TY Pay Rate: £20 - 23 per hour (Umbrella) Contract: Agency / Ongoing Working Pattern: 3 days office-based / 2 days hybrid We are currently recruiting a Youth Justice Officer to join a busy Youth Justice Service, working directly with children who are in, or at risk of entering, the youth justice system. This is a rewarding frontline role focused on prevention, engagement and positive outcomes for children and families. The Role You will manage a caseload of children, delivering assessments and targeted interventions in line with Child-First principles and National Standards. The role involves direct work with children and families, multi-agency collaboration, court work and enforcement where required. Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of children involved in, or at risk of entering, the youth justice system Complete assessments of risk, safety, needs and strengths Develop SMART intervention plans with children, families and partner agencies Deliver 1:1 and family-based interventions in homes, schools, community and office settings Supervise children in line with National Standards and monitor compliance Take enforcement action where required due to non-compliance or increased risk Attend Youth Court, support children and prepare written and verbal reports Manage out-of-court disposals, complete triage and deliver diversion interventions Work collaboratively with police, children’s social care, health, education and other partners Participate in safeguarding processes and multi-agency risk management Support restorative justice approaches and ensure victims’ voices are heard Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using ChildView Work in line with all YJS policies, procedures and legislation Essential Requirements Experience working with children or young people within youth justice, safeguarding or related services Strong assessment, planning and intervention skills Knowledge of Child-First principles, National Standards and youth justice legislation Experience working with multi-agency partners Confident managing risk, compliance and enforcement action Excellent communication and report-writing skills Ability to work flexibly across office, community and family settings Working Arrangements 3 days office-based, 2 days hybrid working Office base: Sandmartin House, Fletton Quays
