Youll primarily maintain and inspect Land Rovers and MAN SV trucks, while supporting a wider fleet of specialist military vehicles and equipment. Training will be provided to help you gain both Military Vehicle Inspector (MVI) status and a full Category C (HGV) driving licence, if not already held. Both will be essential to the role once appointed. Your core duties will include: • Servicing, diagnosing faults, and repairing a wide range of Army vehicles and plant, • Conducting mandated inspections to Defence and civilian engineering standards, • Using the Joint Asset Management and Engineering Solution (JAMES) strong IT skills are essential but training on this platform is available, • Maintaining accurate documentation and audit-ready maintenance records, • Deploying to other sites across London when required to support dependent units, • Applying Safety, Health, Environment and Fire (SHEF) policies at all times, • Using and safeguarding tools, test equipment, and workshop machinery safely There may also be opportunities for career progression within the organisation, and depending on the response to this campaign, the role may be considered for apprenticeship development for suitable candidates. Person specification We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following: • Practical experience working in a vehicle workshop, • Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems, • Ability to carry out maintenance, servicing and inspections to a high standard, • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, for communication and record-keeping, also digital systems for maintenance, inspection or reporting, • Willingness to undertake additional training (e.g. Military Vehicle Inspection (MVI), Category C licence), • Strong awareness of Health and Safety responsibilities within a workshop setting, • Ability to work reliably both independently and as part of a team, • Clear communication skills and a proactive attitude to task completion, • Proactive, team-oriented approach and strong health & safety awareness, • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 2, or military Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic qualification, • MOT tester (Class 4 or 7) or military equivalent inspection experience, • Experience with HGVs, trailers, or military vehicles, • Familiarity with Defence maintenance policies or JAMES Management Information System Qualifications NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 2, or military Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic qualification Behaviours We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process: • Working Together, • Working Together Benefits Alongside your salary of 25,180, Ministry of Defence contributes 7,294 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
