Location: Wolverhampton, WV1 Salary: £43,500 - £45,000 perannum Hours of Work: 22.5 hours per week across 3 days flexible with working days Main Purpose of Role: To lead safeguarding and child protection efforts within the hospital, ensuring a strong safeguarding culture. This includes managing referrals, supporting staff, liaising with external agencies, and overseeing social care input for children and young people with complex mental health needs. Key Responsibilities: Safeguarding Leadership Act as the hospitals designated safeguarding lead for children and young people. Manage and oversee all child protection concerns and referrals. Support staff with safeguarding issues, providing guidance and training. Liaise with Local Authority, Police, and other agencies regarding safeguarding matters. Participate in strategy meetings and represent the hospital at safeguarding forums. Social Work & Care Planning Complete comprehensive social work assessments and contribute to individual care plans. Coordinate social care input from admission through discharge. Ensure that patient and family involvement is central to care planning. Provide a range of evidence-based interventions and support for families and carers. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, person-centered care. Multi-agency & Clinical Involvement Maintain strong communication with external bodies (Social Services, Probation, etc.). Attend and contribute to CPA, S117, MHRT, and clinical review meetings. Prepare reports and attend tribunal or court hearings as required. Team Support & Development Supervise and support junior staff within the social work team. Ensure all staff have access to safeguarding supervision and professional development. Contribute to service development and improvements in social work practice. Training & Compliance Deliver or facilitate safeguarding training and awareness across the hospital. Keep up to date with safeguarding legislation and social work best practices. Ensure compliance with CQC, NHS, and other regulatory standards. Administration & Record Keeping Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records. Complete required reports for internal governance, legal processes, and external agencies. Act as the named lead for safeguarding alerts and CQC notifications. Requirements: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding within health or social care. Knowledge of mental health, autism, learning disabilities, and relevant legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, Children Act). Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Experience working in multidisciplinary settings. Additional Information: This role is subject to enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks.
