Engineering Labourer Rotherham Shift Pattern: Days, Monday to Friday £33,000 - £34,000 The Role We are recruiting an Engineering Labourer to support an established engineering function at a busy industrial site. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with basic engineering knowledge who enjoys practical work, supporting engineers, and contributing to the smooth running of maintenance operations. The role offers day shifts only, a stable weekday pattern, and ongoing training opportunities for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities • Assisting engineers with planned and reactive maintenance activities, • Carrying out general site and engineering maintenance tasks in line with skill level, • Safely moving equipment and materials using mechanical handling equipment (training provided where required), • Operating access equipment where authorised and trained, • Recording work activities using a computer-based work order system, • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices, • Supporting continuous improvement by identifying issues and proposing solutions, • Basic engineering knowledge (essential), • Practical, hands-on approach with general maintenance or “handy-person” skills, • Confidence supporting fault-finding and problem-solving activities, • Ability to complete basic documentation and follow maintenance routines, • Mechanical handling licence (e.g. FLT), • Engineering background or relevant technical qualifications, • Experience using access equipment or willingness to be trained, • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, • Reliable with excellent timekeeping and attendance, • Methodical, organised, and attentive to detail, • Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, • Strong team player with good communication skills, • Proactive mindset with a willingness to suggest improvements, • Comfortable taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through to completion, • Monday–Friday day shifts, • Ongoing training and development, • Opportunity to gain additional licences and skills, • Supportive team environment, • Long-term opportunity for the right candidate
