Role: IT Consultant Location: Preston Hybrid (with some customer site visits) Sector: Managed Services / IT Consultancy Salary: up to £50,000 depending on experience The role Are you a technically minded problem solver who loves working directly with customers to design and deliver impactful IT solutions? We're looking for a Technical Solutions Consultant to join a growing Managed Services Provider, helping organisations modernise, secure, and optimise their IT environments. This role sits within a dynamic Project Delivery Team and blends customer engagement, solution design, and hands-on technical delivery. You'll act as a trusted advisor to business and IT leaders - auditing environments, uncovering opportunities, designing solutions, and supporting successful implementations. What You'll Do * Conduct customer audits and discovery sessions (virtual or on-site) to assess infrastructure and understand business needs. * Translate findings into solution outlines, recommendations, and proposals. * Collaborate with internal teams on project delivery - assisting with migrations, configurations, and reviews. * Document customer environments, update reports, and share insights with colleagues. * Stay up to date with emerging technologies and pursue certifications that grow your expertise. * Every day is varied, combining consultancy, delivery, and continuous learning - all while shaping outstanding customer experiences. What We're Looking For Essential skills and experience: * Proven experience delivering customer-facing technical consultancy within IT infrastructure or managed services. * Strong knowledge across IT infrastructure, networking, Microsoft 365, Azure, and cybersecurity. * Confident communicator with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Collaborative mindset - able to work closely with sales, delivery, and support teams. Desirable: * Certifications from Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, Fortinet, Veeam, or Ubiquiti. * Hands-on Azure architecture and migration experience. * Familiarity with security frameworks (Cyber Essentials, NIST, CIS). * Understanding of modern networking (SD-WAN, SASE, ZTNA). * Experience within an MSP or consultancy environment .
