The Role: As a Software Engineer - Database & Display, you will have to Design, develop and maintain databases and data models for real-time power system applications. Key responsibilities: • Develop, enhance, and maintain display applications, dashboards, and HMI interfaces/Station displays for operators and engineers., • Design, develop and maintain databases and data models for real-time power system applications (EMS/DMS/SCADA)., • Ensure high performance, reliability, and integrity of database system under real-time operational loads., • Perform database tuning, indexing, query optimization, and performance monitoring., • Develop and maintain scripts, APIs, and services to support data integration, replication, and reporting., • Troubleshoot and resolve database and display issues, perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions., • Maintain documentation, including database schemas, and display specifications. Your Profile Key skills/knowledge/experience: • Hands-on expertise on SCADA / DMS/ EMS of any equivalent platforms from Siemens, OSI, ABB, Schneider etc., • Proven experience working on databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MYSQL, or similar RDBMS., • Proficiency in Display & Visualization – SLD creation, HMI development, real-time dashboards, operator displays, and reports., • Skilled in programming or scripting – C, C++, PERL, Java or equivalent for application interfacing and scripting., • Experience with Data Handling including real-time data acquisition, Historian integration, data replication, and logging., • Previous experience with Performance Tuning & Monitoring e.g., Query optimization, indexing, and database health monitoring., • Knowledge of Version control with Git, SVN, or equivalent. This role will have you leading a team of analysts and working alongside security engineers to develop and automate threat detection and response playbooks, as well as security architects and the wider IT function. The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise to work on day-to-day operations within a busy SOC, but also will have led SOC teams from a line-management, pastoral leadership, and ITSM perspective, ranging from SIEM use case tuning, to employee appraisals, KPI's and reporting metrics.
