Assistant Surveyor - Year Placement 2026 - Office Advisory - London, United Kingdom JOB DESCRIPTION About the Team Our Office Advisory - Business Rates team helps landlords, occupiers and developers manage and reduce their rates liabilities across London and the UK. We advise on appeals, exemptions, forecasting, redevelopment, and specialist issues such as serviced offices and plant & machinery. Programme Overview During your Year Placement you will; • Gain hands on experience across the full spectrum of office rates advisory, • Gain exposure to client work, including appeals, liability forecasting, redevelopment advice and specialist areas, • Develop professional competencies required for MRICS accreditation, • Receive mentorship and structured support from senior colleagues and our structured development programme, • Assist in reviewing property assessments to identify opportunities for business rates savings and ensure accurate rateable values for new and existing sites, • Liaise with clients to provide regular progress updates, offer guidance on upcoming projects, and address any queries, • Prepare and submit documentation, including rent and lease forms, to the Valuation Office Agency on behalf of clients, • Conduct thorough research on market trends, property values, and economic indicators to support strategic decision-making, • Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and proposals for clients, ensuring clear communication of insights and recommendations, • Currently studying a RICS accredited degree, • Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret market data, trends, and financial reports to support informed decision-making, • Problem Solving: Apply logical and structured thinking to complex, real-world challenges, • Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients and internal teams, • Collaboration: Work productively across diverse teams and disciplines to achieve shared goals and build your professional network, • Career Development: Take initiative to develop skills, knowledge, and networks that support long-term career growth, • Curiosity & Innovation: Demonstrate a curious mindset by questioning assumptions and seeking smarter, more effective ways to work., • Market Awareness: Understand local and global trends and their potential impact on the business and clients, • Submit an online application including CV and answer a few short screening questions, • MS Teams interview with one 1 interviewer, • Studying a RICS accredited degree is preferred, • An active interest in the built environment, • Flexible and self-motivated with a real desire to deliver excellent customer service and strong client relationships, • Proactive approach and a desire to continually learn and develop, • Organised, efficient, able to use your initiative and work to tight deadlines, • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with an eye for details, • Positive attitude and willing to learn and develop, • You must, by the commencement of employment, have the right to work in the UK
