Mechanical Design Engineer Location: South Cambridge Team: R&D Working Pattern: Full-time This role sits within the R&D team and focuses on leading product development and product improvement projects. The Mechanical Design Engineer will take ownership of projects from concept through to production, working closely with engineers, scientists, suppliers, and external partners. The role is hands-on, fast-paced, and central to ongoing innovation and new product development activities. The company can offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits. Key Responsibilities Product Development & Engineering Projects • Design new products and develop innovative engineering solutions, • Lead and support New Product Development (NPD) and product improvement projects, • Lead Engineering Change Request (ECR) activities, • Plan, cost, and manage projects including timelines and budgets, • Produce high-quality 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and documentation using SolidWorks, • Identify, evaluate, and integrate mechanical and electronic components, • Source materials and parts, managing supplier risk and availability, • Establish test protocols, analyse results, and report findings, • Work closely with suppliers, consultants, and external partners, • Degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering, • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial or R&D environment, • Proven track record of taking products from concept into manufacture, • Strong CAD experience with SolidWorks, • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, • Experience working with suppliers, • Proactive, organised, and detail-focused, • Confident communicator, • Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, assemblies, and testing, • Strong sense of ownership and follow-through Sounds good, how do I apply? • Option 1: Click the apply button, don't worry if you don't have an up-to-date CV, we can discuss whatever you have to hand., • Option 2: Find Alexander Donnelly on LinkedIn and drop me a message or connection request
