Job Title: Assessment Manager Salary: £35,200 - £45,700 per annum Location: Cambridge/Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in the office) Contracts: x1 Full time, permanent & x1 Full-time, 12-month fixed term (Please state which contract(s) you are applying for in your application) We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for two experienced EFL/ESOL professionals with a keen interest in assessment to join a successful, high-performing team, providing support to millions of IELTS customers around the world. About The Role You will be responsible for the provision of sufficient test content to meet the needs of the product, contributing to ongoing quality assurance of content, including marking and results determination activity, and effectively managing Assessment Specialists to ensure the provision of sufficient test content. As part of this role, you will: • manage the production of IELTS test content and metadata at item/task/test level so that it meets required standards of quality and accuracy, • manage relationships with individuals and teams of Assessment Specialists, and other external suppliers, working on the production of IELTS test content and supporting activities, • contribute to the successful management of IELTS at a number of levels and in different fora through liaison with other teams/units/departments of Cambridge University Press and Assessment and external organisations, • contribute to risk, incident and change management activity as required in relation to content production and results determination activity, • represent IELTS and Cambridge University Press and Assessment to external stakeholders (customers, recognising organisations etc). Qualifications About you • Recognised entry-level EFL/ESL teaching qualification (this may be substituted by relevant experience/qualifications in a related field), • Some knowledge of language assessment theory and practice, • Some knowledge of the IELTS ecosystem (our customers, the product, the partnership, etc) Skills • Excellent attention to detail, • Ability to evaluate texts and tasks/questions/answer keys as suitable for use and compliant with test specifications, • Numerate and able to understand/interpret statistics and qualitative data, • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, • Competent IT skills on the standard software applications required by the role, • Planning, co-ordinating, prioritising and decision-making skills Experience • Practical English language teaching experience (or other relevant background, e.g. assessment, translation) Behaviours • Role-modelling organisation values of Empowerment, Collaboration, Responsibility and Innovation, • Calm under pressure, • Alert and responsive to Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, and own/team health and wellbeing If you would like to know more about this opportunity, please see the full job description attached to the bottom of this vacancy on our careers site.
