Harlyn are seeking a driven, creative, and commercially minded Marketing Manager / Senior Marketing Manager to own and build the company’s marketing strategy. Operating primarily from Harlyn’s newly refurbished HQ in Blyth and reporting directly to the senior leadership team, this person will lead the development and delivery of Harlyn’s marketing and communications strategy while overseeing the day-to-day marketing function across the business. They will manage the junior marketing resource within the office and coordinate external specialist support through an established marketing consultant relationship. The role will play a central part in strengthening Harlyn’s market positioning, supporting business growth objectives, and improving internal communication and organisational alignment as the company continues to scale. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery. It is suited to someone who enjoys building - not simply maintaining - and who can translate complex engineering and operational work into compelling, commercially valuable communications. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping how Harlyn is perceived across the industry while also helping to embed brand, communication, and culture internally as the business continues to grow. As Harlyn evolves, this role has clear scope to expand into a broader leadership position with responsibility wider brand and business development initiatives. Key Responsibilities Marketing Strategy & Leadership • Develop and lead Harlyn’s marketing and communications strategy in alignment with the company’s commercial growth objectives., • Work closely with senior leadership to identify strategic priorities, market opportunities, and positioning initiatives that strengthen Harlyn’s profile across target sectors and regions., • Build and continuously improve marketing systems, processes, and reporting to create a scalable and commercially effective marketing function., • Bring strategic direction, creativity, pace, and accountability to all marketing activity, ensuring effort and investment are focused where they deliver the greatest business impact. Communications & Brand • Act as the lead guardian of the Harlyn brand, ensuring consistency, quality, and professionalism across all communications, channels, events and touchpoints., • Develop messaging and communication frameworks that clearly articulate Harlyn’s expertise, values, culture, and differentiators., • Lead both external communications and internal communications initiatives to improve alignment, engagement, and consistency across the organisation., • Support leadership with company announcements, business updates, culture initiatives, and internal communication campaigns that strengthen employee engagement and organisational cohesion., • Embed brand and communication best practice throughout the business through guidance, collaboration, and informal training. Content • Lead the development of high-quality case studies, project stories, campaign content, and industry communications that showcase the scale, complexity, and technical excellence of Harlyn’s work., • Work closely with operational and project teams to identify commercially valuable stories and transform technical engineering activity into engaging, accessible content., • Develop and execute marketing campaigns aligned to business development objectives, target sectors, and strategic growth priorities., • Oversee content planning and editorial direction across digital and offline channels. Digital • Own and oversee the Harlyn website, working with the marketing officer to ensure content remains current, well-structured, optimised, and reflective of the company’s quality and ambition., • Lead Harlyn’s social media and digital marketing strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, and future channels as appropriate., • Drive audience growth, engagement, and brand visibility through consistent, high-quality digital output., • Monitor performance across channels and campaigns, using data and insight to refine strategy and improve effectiveness. Internal Communications & Organisational Engagement • Develop and improve internal communication processes and channels across the business., • Work closely with teams across operations, projects, and leadership to improve communication flow, visibility of success stories, and alignment around company initiatives., • Help strengthen company culture and employee engagement through effective storytelling, internal updates, and communication initiatives., • Encourage and support wider participation in marketing and content generation across the organisation. Business Development Support • Support the business development and tendering function with compelling credentials, presentations, case studies, photography, and supporting marketing materials., • Maintain a structured and accessible library of marketing assets, project information, and capability documentation for use across bids, proposals, and client engagement activity., • Ensure marketing activity directly supports pipeline development, client engagement, and commercial growth objectives. Stakeholder Engagement & Industry Presence • Represent Harlyn at industry events, conferences, stakeholder meetings, and networking opportunities., • Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, industry organisations, and regional stakeholders to strengthen Harlyn’s market presence and reputation., • Identify opportunities for thought leadership, PR, partnerships, and broader brand visibility. Key tasks: • Lead and evolve the Harlyn marketing and communications strategy., • Own and develop the Harlyn brand across all internal and external channels., • Manage the planning, production, and publication of regular content across the website, LinkedIn, and Instagram to a consistently high standard., • Develop internal communication initiatives that improve alignment, engagement, and cultural consistency across the business., • Produce compelling case studies and project stories for commercial and industry audiences., • Support business development and tendering activity with high-quality marketing collateral and bid content., • Manage and continuously improve the Harlyn website and digital presence., • Attend project sites, events, and operational activities to capture content and deepen understanding of the business., • Track and report on marketing performance, campaign effectiveness, audience growth, and contribution to commercial objectives., • Build strong collaborative relationships across all areas of the business to embed marketing and communication thinking throughout the organisation. Qualifications & Expertise: • Proven experience in a Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Manager role – either internally or for an agency., • Strong strategic thinking capability combined with a hands-on approach to execution and delivery., • Willingness to work in a nimble, fast paced environment and be on-site at project locations and events to capture content and build a genuine understanding of Harlyn’s operations., • Experience developing marketing strategies that support commercial growth and brand positioning., • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex technical subject matter effectively., • Experience leading internal communications initiatives and improving organisational engagement is highly desirable., • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media strategy, content development, and website management., • Commercially aware, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment., • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organisation., • Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating closely with senior leadership and managing wider marketing function., • Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, offshore, energy, logistics, or industrial sectors is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
