SEN Nurture Teaching Assistant – AycliffeAbout the Role We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Nurture Teaching Assistant to join a supportive educational setting in Aycliffe. This role involves working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those requiring additional emotional, social, and behavioural support within a nurture provision. You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn by providing consistent support and building positive relationships. Key Responsibilities • Support pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO, • Provide one-to-one and small group support within the nurture setting, • Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation, • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment, • Support pupils with personal development, social skills, and independence, • Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour, • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals where requiredRequirements, • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred), • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach, • Strong communication and teamwork skills, • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff, • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirableWhat We Offer, • A welcoming and supportive school environment, • Opportunities for professional development and training, • The chance to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ lives
