This move is in direct response to what our clients have been asking for – a single, trusted partner that can deliver administration, actuarial expertise, investment advice and strategic consulting in one, cohesive service. By bringing Atkin Pensions into Aptia, we are now able to offer a fully integrated proposition for our clients. The Role The Atkin Investment Consulting team currently consists of two Senior Investment Consultants who require support in drafting and preparing investment advice as well as developing templates and the proposition that is taken to clients. The client base is predominantly small defined benefit pension schemes (AUM £20m and below). What you will be doing: • Draft all types of investment advice that trustees of DB pension schemes will need, e.g. quarterly reporting, SIPs, manager advice, transition advice, cashflow advice, input in Trustee Report and Accounts etc, • Clearly lay out calculations with all figures in reports and emails supportable and evidenced on file, • Check work of junior trainees and ask questions/highlight to any further checker where do not feel confident to fully sign-off the work, • Ensure use of standard models and templates where available and assist in developing standard models and templates, • Communicate with the team to understand timescales, budgets and priorities, • Understand budgets applicable to each project and notify senior investment consultants where budgets are likely to be exceeded, • Minimise time spent by more senior staff by ensuring work is easy to follow. Clearly set out any checks that have been performed and any issues and assumptions that have required judgement. Address any issues before senior staff review where possible, • Manage own workflow ensuring that work is carried out within agreed timescales.Notify team members of any conflicts in priorities or problems meeting deadlines, • Support the client managers in providing billing information where required, • Attend manager research meetings to understand different investment approaches and asset classes in greater detail, drafting notes and providing views on the offerings, • Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions where required and appropriate, • Build relationships with specific clients where appropriate, • Manage all investment work on specific clients as agreed ensuring deadlines are agreed and met Here's what we're looking for: • Experience as an investment analyst in the pensions /consulting industry, • Ability to produce high quality investment reports and advice, • A self-starter who can work independently, bring ideas and help develop standard templates, • In depth knowledge of UK DB pensions and legislation, • Strong academic background and studying for CFA or IFoA exams If you are interested in this role and then we’d love to hear from you.
