Purpose of Role: Reporting the Senior Manager, Finance, the Manager, Accounting & Controls will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This role oversees all aspects of the accounting cycle, from daily transactions through to the close process and financial statement preparation. The Manager is also a primary point of contact for external and internal auditors and is responsible for maintaining a robust internal control environment. This regional role will report to the US Senior Manager Finance and leads and develops a team of accounting and accounts payable professionals. This role will be located at the regional head office in Tucson, Az. Role Accountabilities: Financial Reporting and Close Process: • Direct and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting., • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other supporting documentation for multiple company codes., • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS., • Oversee the accounting for our joint venture partnership, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and that the JV's financial results are properly consolidated or accounted for., • Manage the process for intercompany transactions, ensuring all balances are reconciled and eliminated during the consolidation process. Prepare and review the consolidations file and supporting schedules., • Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting to mitigate risk and ensure compliance., • Act as the primary liaison for both external and internal audit teams, coordinating PBC (Prepared by Client) requests, managing audit schedules, and responding to inquiries., • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accounting and accounts payable staff., • Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development., • Oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments., • Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation., • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA) or an advanced degree (MBA) is preferred., • 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5 years in a management role., • Significant experience in the mining, metals, or a related heavy industrial industry is required., • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX)., • Experience with a major ERP system (preferably SAP)., • Experience with joint venture accounting, multiple company codes, and intercompany transactions is essential., • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills., • Exceptional analytical skills with an inquisitive and problem-solving mindset., • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Knowledge of the US and Arizona tax environment and regulatory landscape is a plus.
