Job DescriptionDescription: Position Overview Position Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm (approx.. 8- 12 weeks to cover a leave of absence) Vermont Hills Family Life Center (VHFLC) is seeking a temporary Preschool Teacher to cover a leave of absence at our mission-driven team at St. Andrew's ECE Center. This role supports the healthy development of young children by planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment. As the Lead Preschool Teacher, you will create meaningful learning experiences to foster children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth while maintaining strong partnerships with families and upholding VHFLC’s commitment to equity, respect, and high-quality care. Responsibilities • Plan and implement a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Oregon’s Early Learning and VHFLC’s philosophy., • Supervise and engage preschool-aged children in activities that promote exploration, discovery, creativity, and problem-solving., • Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that supports children’s autonomy and cooperation., • Foster positive relationships with children and families, greeting each child and caregiver warmly and professionally each day., • Utilize positive guidance techniques consistent with VHFLC’s policies to promote self-regulation and conflict resolution., • Ensure health and safety practices are followed, including meal/snack routines, toileting, and maintaining a clean classroom., • Complete required documentation, including incident reports, medication logs, and developmental observations., • Participate in family conferences and ongoing communication with parents to support each child’s growth and family’s goals., • A collaborative, supportive team environment with a child-centered, equity-focused mission., • Paid training and continuing education incentives., • Opportunities for professional growth within the organization. In alignment with Oregon Early Learning Division (ELD) licensing requirements: • At least an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, OR, • Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry., • Current Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED certification., • Current Oregon Food Handler’s Card., • Completion of required ELD trainings: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN), Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (ICCHS), Prevention is Better than Treatment (PBtT), Foundations for Learning (FFL), and Safe Sleep for Oregon’s Infants (SS). Skills and Attributes • Passion for nurturing and educating young children., • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and remain calm in emergency situations., • Effective written and verbal communication skills for curriculum documentation and family engagement., • Commitment to upholding VHFLC’s mission, values, and professional standards., • Ability to model positive, respectful, and inclusive interactions with children, families, and colleagues. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds., • Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, squat, and engage in physical activities indoors and outdoors., • Ability to visually and physically monitor children at all times.
