Job Description Job Title: Aircraft Electrical Technician Job Description This role focuses on performing avionics troubleshooting, installations, repairs, maintenance, and modifications on F/A-18 aircraft electrical and avionics systems. You will support upgrades to radar packages, communications and secure communications equipment, and other potential system enhancements while ensuring the aircraft remain safe, reliable, and mission-ready. Responsibilities • Perform troubleshooting, fault isolation, and repair of avionics and electrical systems on F/A-18 aircraft, including Super Hornet variants (F/A-18E and F/A-18F)., • Install, modify, and upgrade radar packages, communications systems, and secure communications (Comm Sec) equipment on fighter aircraft., • Carry out maintenance and repair activities on aircraft electrical systems in accordance with operational level (O-Level) maintenance standards and procedures., • Install and route electrical wiring and harnesses, including fiber optic cables, in accordance with technical drawings, schematics, and aircraft documentation., • Interpret and use electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to perform accurate installations and repairs., • Perform fiber optic installation, termination, and inspection to ensure proper connectivity and system performance., • Support depot and heavy maintenance tasks on fighter aircraft, with a focus on electrical and avionics systems., • Document work performed, including maintenance actions, repairs, and modifications, in accordance with applicable procedures and requirements., • Collaborate with other technicians and teams to ensure timely completion of maintenance, upgrades, and modifications., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in hangars and on the flightline, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others. Essential Skills • 4–7 years of depot or heavy maintenance experience on aircraft electrical systems, with fighter jet experience preferred., • Hands-on experience working on F-18 aircraft, including F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet platforms, highly preferred., • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing avionics and electrical systems on aircraft., • Experience with installation and maintenance of radar, communications, and secure communications (Comm Sec) equipment., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals., • Experience with fiber optic installation, including fiber optic cable routing and terminations., • O-Level (Operational Level) maintenance on aircraft., • Navy ratings of AE (Aviation Electrician’s Mate) or AT (Aviation Electronics Technician) highly preferred., • Experience with NAV systems and associated test equipment (often referred to as “magic box”) highly preferred., • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance., • Eligibility to obtain a Boeing facility badge, with no prior terminations on record with Boeing., • Strong attention to detail and adherence to maintenance and safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Prior experience supporting fighter jet programs, particularly F-18 platforms., • Familiarity with both avionics systems and traditional aircraft electrical systems., • Comfort working with both electrical harnesses and fiber optic cabling., • Experience working in a structured maintenance environment, such as military aviation or depot-level facilities., • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and communicate clearly with peers and supervisors., • Flexibility to work different shifts as required by operational needs. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
