Job Description Under general supervision, the Seal Repair Technician is responsible for all processes related to disassembly and assembly of rotating equipment. The Seal Repair Technician follows instruction from a Repair job packet and router to perform DCI (Dismantle Clean and Inspect) and gives a written description of the wear and condition of critical components seal. This position completes all inspection forms taking pictures of all critical components, and uses inspection equipment for proper documentation of the assembly. With assistance identifies, inspects and evaluates material returned, determines repair operations, performs simple shop operations, verify specifications, initiate work and purchase orders. Receives John Crane parts and materials returned by customers and branch offices. Evaluates from a condition of material, checks current drawing revisions and general product knowledge whether material is repairable or non-repairable. • Identifies and inspects material returned., • Ensures all components are properly cleaned and free from foreign material per departmental procedures, • Performs the assembly of the seal once the repair has been released to the shop and all components have been replaced or reconditioned and marked ready for assembly., • Under close supervision, repairs returned seals and seal parts., • May perform parts structuring, checks cost structure, and determines price of repair, ensures assembly is structured correctly, and price repair., • Determines necessary repair operations, ensures BOM (bill of materials) / drawings / repair parts match., • Performs simple operations on drill press (single spindle), tool post grinder, bead blast polisher and lapping machine., • Additional duties as required by the businessQualifications, • High School diploma or equivalent required. Some college and/or trade school preferred., • Minimum 2 years of mechanical seal equipment experience/or comparable experience within the refining, petrochemical, chemical, power, or upstream markets working on or maintaining equipment., • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos., • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization., • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's., • Ability to understand and complete instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form., • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Prefab Assemblers work Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and take pride in safely, accurately and timely producing electrical assemblies, frames and products that are used in construction projects across the nation. Primary responsibilities include: 1. Following all safety rules and regulations and maintaining a clean, organized and safe work environment, 2. Using established production processes to accurately carry out assignments from the Prefab Lead or Manager, 3. Performing general electrical prefab tasks such as cutting, threading, bending and assembling electrical components and subcomponents, 4. Following detailed parts lists, assembly instructions and notes on production drawings, 5. Moving material with forklift and pallet jack (certification required), 6. Identifying and using correct material and tooling, 7. Tracking production and communicating electronically with basic Microsoft Office usage Physical demands include, but are not limited to, the ability to work 40 or more hours per week; frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.; continuous standing, walking, bending, and/or twisting; repetitive use of hands for frequent grasping, pushing and pulling and fine motor coordination; periodic squatting, kneeling, reaching overhead and climbing; repetitive use of feet for operating equipment, conduit benders and vertical climbing; and adequate vision for document reading and color coding to identify wire. Qualified candidates have proven reliability; effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math; good time management and organization; ability to read and understand job orders and construction drawings; and a high school diploma or GED. Experience using impact drills and performing mild steel MIG welds is beneficial.
