Job DescriptionDescription: The Transmission Shop Mechanic is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, rebuild, assembly, and testing of transmission units at Harlan Global Manufacturing. This role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a production shop environment while meeting quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Transmission Repair & Assembly • Disassemble, inspect, and diagnose transmission components, • Repair or rebuild transmissions according to specifications and work instructions, • Assemble transmissions using proper tools, torque procedures, and measurements, • Perform adjustments, setup, and functional testing of completed units, • Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-tolerance parts and recommend replacements Quality & Documentation • Ensure all work meets internal quality standards and customer requirements, • Complete required job documentation, inspection records, and checklists, • Report defects, recurring issues, or potential improvements to the Shop Lead, • Maintain clean, organized workstations and tooling Shop Operations • Follow production schedules and prioritize work as assigned, • Safely operate shop equipment, hoists, presses, and power tools, • Support continuous improvement initiatives and standard work practices, • Assist with training less-experienced mechanics as needed Safety & Compliance • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies, • Maintain awareness of shop hazards and report unsafe conditions immediately, • Handle tools, equipment, and materials in a safe and responsible mannerRequirements: Required • 3+ years of experience in transmission repair, rebuild, or mechanical assembly, • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability, • Experience using hand tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment, • Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and specifications, • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team Preferred • Experience with industrial, heavy-duty, or automotive transmissions, • Formal mechanical training, technical school, or apprenticeship experience, • Familiarity with manufacturing or production shop environments, • Mechanical and technical proficiency, • Attention to detail and quality, • Problem-solving skills, • Time management and reliability, • Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods, • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance, • Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to machinery, noise, oils, and lubricants, • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
