Job Description The Teen Travel Camp Manager is responsible for the planning, leadership, supervision, and execution of the JCC’s Teen Travel Camp program. This role oversees all aspects of travel-based camp programming, including daily field trips and two out-of-town, week-long travel experiences. The Teen Travel Camp Manager ensures a safe, engaging, and meaningful camp experience that reflects the mission, values, and culture of the Jewish Community Center. This position is classified as Seasonal. The schedule is from February to August. The Jewish Community Center is an equal opportunity employer (EOE). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Program Planning & Implementation: • Develop, plan, and implement a high-quality Teen Travel Camp program, including daily off-site field trips and two out-of-town, week-long travel experiences., • Design thoughtful, age-appropriate itineraries that balance fun, learning, Jewish values, and community-building., • Coordinate all logistics related to travel, including transportation, lodging, meals, activities, and schedules., • Ensure all trips and programs comply with JCC policies, safety standards, and risk management protocols., • Plan and facilitate pre-trip orientation sessions for campers and families., • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Teen Travel Camp counselors and support staff., • Provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and feedback to staff throughout the season., • Ensure appropriate staff-to-camper ratios are maintained at all times, particularly during travel., • Model professionalism, strong judgment, and positive youth development practices., • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all campers., • Build meaningful relationships with teens and support their emotional, social, and physical well-being., • Address camper concerns, homesickness, health needs, and behavioral issues promptly and appropriately., • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of campers and staff at all times., • Manage medical information, emergency contacts, medications, and incident documentation., • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, injuries, or unexpected situations while traveling., • Enforce all camp, travel, and behavior policies consistently., • Assist with budget planning and monitor travel-related expenses., • Submit purchase orders, receipts, and required paperwork in a timely manner., • Coordinate trip contracts, reservations, waivers, and permissions., • Maintain accurate rosters, attendance records, and incident reports., • Serve as the primary point of contact for families during travel experiences., • Work with the Marketing Department to support promotion of the Teen Travel Camp program., • Represent the JCC professionally with vendors, partners, and community stakeholders., • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission, goals, and values of the JCC., • Keep supervisor informed of all relevant issues, incidents, and program updates., • Exhibit flexibility, initiative, and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment., • Maintain excellent customer service and communication skills., • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and JCC functions as required., • Understand and follow all JCC philosophies, policies, and procedures., • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required., • Previous experience working with teens in camp, travel, youth programs, or similar settings required., • Supervisory experience strongly preferred., • Experience leading off-site programs, travel, or overnight trips strongly preferred., • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills., • Ability to manage logistics, safety, and group dynamics in travel settings., • Strong Jewish background and comfort incorporating Jewish values into programming., • CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)., • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds., • Professional in appearance, manner and tone., • A team player who possesses the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
