Job Description Position: Maintenance Technician I Pay Range: $27–$29 per hour Company: Synova Group Location: Extensive travel required – Twin Cities Metro & Greater Minnesota Job Summary Synova Group is seeking a reliable, skilled, and highly flexible Maintenance Technician I to support the upkeep and safety of our group homes, offices, vehicles, and company assets. This is a travel-intensive position requiring daily travel between multiple homes and company sites throughout the Twin Cities metro area and frequent travel to locations across greater Minnesota. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently in the field, traveling between sites, and adapting to changing daily priorities. This role is not based at a single location — it supports all company sites as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Coordinate and perform repairs on exterior and interior components of Synova housing, including furniture, furnishings, fixtures, appliances, vehicles, offices, and other physical assets across multiple locations., • Travel daily between homes and company sites to complete maintenance requests and urgent repairs., • Perform routine maintenance such as changing locks, painting, snow removal, and general repairs., • Conduct housing and vehicle inspections in accordance with company policy and procedures., • Assist in coordinating and completing moves of individuals and their belongings between designated facilities., • Assist with flooring and tile installation as needed., • Assist with drywall patching and trim replacement., • Proactively advise the Facilities Operations Director of maintenance needs, operational system concerns, and equipment or tool requirements across all serviced sites., • Maintain and proactively utilize MaintainX operations software to support efficient budgeting, maintenance tracking, repairs, and asset replacement., • Maintain tools, trucks, and work areas to Synova standards while operating in the field., • Maintain and submit all receipts and expense reports related to maintenance operations in a timely manner., • Ensure job sites meet safety standards and are prepared daily for client occupancy., • Seek and complete educational opportunities to strengthen skills in general repair, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and flooring., • Represent Synova Group professionally across all homes and communities served. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent preferred., • Experience with workplace or facility safety practices., • General experience in maintenance, repairs, or related trades preferred., • Possess a valid driver’s license, access to an insured vehicle, and maintain a clean driving record., • Experience working with individuals with special needs is a plus., • Frequent, consistent travel between multiple group homes and company locations throughout the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota., • Move frequently throughout the day., • Read, write, and speak English sufficiently to perform duties and communicate effectively with staff, individuals served, families, and management., • See and hear, with or without prosthetic devices, sufficiently to perform essential functions., • Meet all licensing, contractual, and state and county requirements., • Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, creative problem-solving, and adaptability., • Maintain a positive, professional demeanor., • Subject to flexible and varied scheduling, including split shifts, changing days, mornings, evenings, and weekends based on maintenance needs., • Significant schedule flexibility is required, with the likelihood of workweeks exceeding 40 hours., • Participation in an on-call rotation that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee moves intermittently throughout the workday. The employee is regularly required to see and hear sufficiently to perform duties and communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, bends, stoops, crouches, kneels, and lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions • Works in a variety of community-based settings with regular and extensive travel required., • Frequently sits, stands, walks, bends, lifts, and moves during working hours., • Subject to frequent interruptions and imposed deadlines., • May encounter emotionally upset or physically aggressive individuals. Paid training is conducted in our Brooklyn Park office and is led by Synova Group employees. For Service Managers a company vehicle is provided after 90 days of service. We provide the car and the maintenance! That includes oil changes, car washes, tires, brakes, and anything else the vehicle may need! Employees may choose $6,900 in additional compensation in lieu of the vehicle.
