Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on our projects across Southern Arizona. You will be the on-site leader responsible for coordinating subcontractors and vendors, driving schedule adherence, enforcing uncompromising safety and quality standards, and representing Durazo Construction with professionalism to clients, architects, and inspectors. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives on delivering complex projects on time and within scope while building strong teams. Key ResponsibilitiesSubcontractor & Vendor Coordination • Coordinate and manage all subcontractors and vendors on the jobsite, including scheduling their work, staging, and sequencing to align with the overall project schedule., • Review and validate subcontractor daily reports, schedules, and manpower; proactively identify and resolve coordination conflicts, delays, or performance issues., • Ensure timely material deliveries and equipment availability; maintain positive, professional relationships with all trade partners and suppliers., • Lead pre-task planning and coordination meetings with key subcontractors; escalate persistent issues to the Project Manager with recommended solutions. Site Operations & Schedule Execution • Oversee and direct all daily construction activities on the jobsite to maintain momentum and meet milestones., • Maintain, update, and communicate the project schedule; anticipate delays and implement recovery strategies in collaboration with the Project Manager., • Manage site logistics, laydown areas, traffic control, and overall jobsite organization for maximum efficiency and safety. Safety Leadership & Compliance • Champion a zero-incident safety culture; ensure strict compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and site-specific requirements for all personnel and visitors., • Conduct regular toolbox safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and documented safety inspections; immediately address and document any deficiencies., • Investigate incidents and near-misses thoroughly; implement corrective actions and share lessons learned across projects. Quality Control & Scope Management • Maintain detailed knowledge of the project scope, plans, and specifications; inspect work at each stage to ensure it meets or exceeds Durazo’s high standards., • Manage non-conformance issues promptly; protect completed work and ensure compliance with building codes, permits, and regulatory requirements., • Review and understand all contract documents, drawings, and specifications; flag discrepancies early through RFIs. Technology, Documentation & Reporting (Procore) • Utilize Procore daily on a tablet to create and manage Daily Logs, Safety Reports, Progress Photos, RFIs, Submittals, Punch Lists, and other critical project documentation., • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records that support billing, change orders, claims defense, and successful project closeout. Budget Awareness & Cost Control • Monitor daily production, labor hours, material usage, and equipment costs; identify variances early and report to the Project Manager with context and recommendations., • Minimize waste, rework, and unnecessary costs through proactive planning, proper sequencing, and supervision of work., • Assist with validating subcontractor progress billings and pricing field-generated change orders when requested. Team Leadership & Development • Supervise, mentor, and motivate field personnel, foremen, and laborers; build a collaborative, respectful, and high-performance jobsite culture aligned with Durazo values., • Support onboarding and ongoing training of field team members on company processes, safety standards, and quality expectations. Client & Stakeholder Relations • Serve as the primary on-site representative of Durazo Construction to owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and other stakeholders., • Participate in owner and architect meetings; address questions, concerns, and requests professionally and promptly while protecting the company’s interests., • Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager in a timely manner while offering clear recommendations and solutions. Project Closeout & Handover • Drive punch list completion to zero items through organized tracking and subcontractor accountability., • Coordinate and support final inspections, Certificate of Occupancy, and all closeout deliverables (as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, training, etc.)., • Ensure a clean, complete, and professional project turnover that reflects Durazo’s commitment to excellence. Site Housekeeping & Professionalism • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsite appearance at all times — reflecting the pride we take in our work., • Enforce jobsite rules regarding conduct, PPE usage, housekeeping standards, and visitor protocols. Required Experience & Skills • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial, public works, institutional, or similar projects (or a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management/Engineering plus 3+ years of relevant field leadership experience)., • Demonstrated expertise in construction means, methods, sequencing, and coordination of multiple trades., • Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software (daily use on tablet); strong Microsoft Office skills., • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (or ability to obtain within first 60 days of employment)., • Valid driver’s license with clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR); willingness and ability to travel to project sites throughout Southern Arizona, including rural locations up to 2–3 hours from Tucson., • Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents., • Strong leadership presence with excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to build team morale, resolve conflicts, and maintain a collaborative environment., • Physical capability to perform frequent site walks, climb ladders and stairs, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs; comfort working outdoors in extreme heat and all weather conditions common to Southern Arizona. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with public works projects, parks & recreation facilities, playgrounds, pools, or historic preservation/adaptive reuse work., • Bilingual (English/Spanish) — highly valued for effective communication with diverse field teams., • Additional certifications such as First Aid/CPR/AED, Fall Protection Competent Person, or LEED accreditation.
