Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION: Brain injury can be hard to see and understand, but at the Brain Injury Association of Colorado, we get it. We know each person with a brain injury is unique and can struggle with so many things. Every day, we provide the support, connections, and available resources that survivors and their support networks need. Because when we do, survivors of brain injury have a chance to thrive. The Substance Misuse (LAC) and Mental Health Counselor for BIAC’s Re-Entry team lives this mission by providing individual and group therapy with brain injury survivors who have experienced being unhoused and who have substance use and/or co-occurring disorders. This position will primarily serve the reentry client base. The reentry department partners with specialty courts in Denver to support survivors of brain injury navigating the legal system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Counseling: Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions with an emphasis on strength-based treatment, a person-centered approach, and trauma-informed care to clients with brain injury. * Provide individual and group therapy to Brain Injury Survivors with mental health and substance misuse. * Complete biopsychosocial assessments for each client to develop appropriate Individualized Treatment Plans. * Targeted Case Management: Provide coordination with internal and external providers. * Maintain documentation of services and communication provided to survivors in a timely and accurate manner. * Monitor treatment progress on an ongoing basis and update Individualized Services Plans when there are changes to the client's level of functioning or biopsychosocial needs. * Develop discharge planning at the time of program admission and update during the course of services as appropriate. * Provide clinical supervision and training as appropriate and requested by the organization. * Maintain appropriate licensing for the position requirements. * Perform 27-10 (M-1) mental health hold evaluations. * Provide case management tasks for clients as needed or assigned. Data Collection, Reporting, and Evaluation: Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner according to Federal, State, and BIAC Clinical Services (BIACCS) guidelines. * Update existing contacts as needed and record client contact details, including contact type, activity summary, and therapy notes. * Provide data for the legal system and for grant partnership reporting. OTHER DUTIES: * Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * One year or more of experience delivering clinical services to individuals. * Experience with substance misuse interventions. * Experience with trauma-informed care, strength-based therapy interventions, and other applicable treatment modalities. * Experience working with people with diverse populations, including cognitive disabilities and/or behavioral health challenges. * Willingness to support clients facing extreme circumstances while considering the impacts of systemic bias and judgment. Preferred Qualifications * One year or more of experience delivering clinical services in a group setting. * Experience working with clients involved in the legal system- both incarcerated and under community supervision. * Knowledge of community, state, and federal resources for brain injury, disability, or human services specific to the region this position serves. * Experience teaching life skills such as: organization, financial management, healthy lifestyle, social skills, job skills, computer, and internet usage. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Master’s degree in social work or counseling required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: * Licensed Addiction Counselor (preferred) or Certified Addiction Specialist (required)- Must be registered with DORA. * Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field. * Active licensure (LAC, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT). * Candidates with LPC, LCSW, or LMFT are also required to be Certified Addiction Specialists (minimum certification requirement) or Licensed Addiction Counselor (preferred). Must be registered with DORA. * CBIS certification (acquired within one year of employment and maintained through continuing education). BIAC provides training. Responsibilities • Assist the Clinical Director to develop and implement an engaging clinical schedule, including the development of curriculum, • Ensure that clinical services are delivered in accordance with recognized best practices, • Crisis management throughout all intensive outpatient program delivery/on-call responsibilities throughout nights/weekends, • Maintain a caseload and facilitate weekly group treatment (15 hours minimum), • Well versed in a variety of modalities and feel confident integrating them into your treatment approach (DBT, CBT, EMDR, MI certification is a plus), • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, staff, families, agencies, and referents, • Ensure compliance to regulations set forth by The Joint Commission and perform ongoing quality assurance, • Monitor treatment documentation to ensure all notes are included and meets agency and professional standards per DHCS and The Joint Commission standards, • Provide clinical supervision in accordance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, • Maintain and model professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and confidentiality, • Assist with the development of relationships with key referral sources, participate in networkingRequirements, • Must be an independently licensed mental health counselor, • Work authorized in the United States and native or bilingual English proficiency, • Experience working with a wide range of ages, including children, teens, young adults, and adults clients, • Leadership experience in clinical setting (inpatient, outpatient, IOP, PHP) This role is not presently available in New York, Colorado, Washington or California. #LI Additional Information The expected base pay for this role will be between $75,000 and $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location and years of experience. Job Description The Residential Counselor (Milieu Counselor) provides milieu management, guidance, safety, stability, and direction to a client population that is actively intoxicated and/or experiencing withdrawal symptoms. This is a pool (on call) position with no set schedule. Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required: • Minimum of High school diploma or GED equivalent Required, • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field., • Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) or ability to obtain CAS within 18 months of hire., • QMAP certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire., • Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire., • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred, • Motor Vehicle Insurance Coverage requires applicant must be 25 years or older. Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving record as determine by our insurance carrier. An MVR will be pulled along with a background check.Essential Duties:, • Assessment and documentation of levels of intoxication, including breath alcohol levels, withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, physical condition, mental status and behavior., • Identifies signs of an emergency and reacts appropriately. Ensures Adverse Incident Reporting (AIR) procedures are followed during shift., • Monitor milieu to ensure safety and to make sure client needs are met. Including but not limited to cleaning/organization of shared spaces, restocking supplies, ensuring doors and windows remain closed/secure., • Facilitate and co-facilitate psychoeducation groups on unit with clients., • Effectively responds to client needs and problems. Engages clients in discussions to identify goals and build rapport; provide referrals to supportive services when needed., • Serves as Acting Shift Coordinator when coverage is needed (pay differential is provided)., • Practices OSHA safety standards and disposes of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards., • If given approval, must transport clients to and from hospitals, aftercare, or other approved services as directed by the Shift Coordinator. Individuals may be exposed to adverse weather conditions during loading and unloading of passengers. Must adhere to transportation safety guidelines., • Community outreach and engagement offsite, as needed., • Assisting in maintaining outreach vans and reporting any vehicle accidents, damage or needed maintenance., • Adhere to all Withdrawal Management and Jefferson Center Policies and Procedures., • Participate in supervision by coming prepared with an agenda. Report high risk/problem cases, utilize a problem-solving approach, and work to integrate feedback., • Perform accurate and timely documentation at all times., • Adhere with Corporate Compliance requirements in accordance with regulatory requirements and clinical guidelines., • Exhibit enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment., • Maintain effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, upper management, visitors, and the general public.
