Job Description Description The Facilities Maintenance Technology Instructor delivers hands-on and classroom instruction to adult learners in the Facilities Maintenance Technology program. The instructor ensures that students gain the technical, safety, and job readiness skills required for entry-level employment in building and facility maintenance. Instruction covers multiple trade areas, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC fundamentals, interior/exterior repair, safety/OSHA standards, and customer service. The instructor assists in updating current curriculum; providing quality instruction for a diverse student population; and performing instructional duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, core values, policies and procedures of the College. Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide engaging, competency-based instruction aligned with the Facilities Maintenance Technology curriculum., • Teach theory, applied skills, and safety practices in classroom, lab, and/or shop environments., • Deliver instruction in areas such as OSHA/safety, math and measurement, blueprint reading, carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC basics, interior/exterior repair, painting/finishing, and forklift safety., • Demonstrate, supervise, and assess students in hands-on skill development., • Ensure compliance with OSHA and industry-standard safety procedures at all times., • Monitor student attendance, performance, and progress; provide academic support as needed., • Assess student competency through tests, projects, demonstrations, and practical evaluations., • Maintain instructional materials, tools, and supplies; request replacements when needed., • Collaborate with WEDC staff and Esperanza staff to ensure program success and student outcomes., • Maintain accurate course records, grading, and reporting per College requirements. Other Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor, • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Typical Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: • Broad working knowledge of facility maintenance skills, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC fundamentals, safety, and repair practices., • Strong instructional and communication skills; ability to explain and demonstrate concepts to diverse learners., • Commitment to workplace safety and OSHA compliance., • Ability to manage classroom and shop environments effectively., • Strong organizational and time-management skills., • 3 years’ experience in construction trades, building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or related field;, • A college degree is NOT required, • Current job specific credentials or certification preferred Supplemental Information Work Environment and/or Physical Demands: • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards., • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, • Conditions may require walking, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, heavy lifting (less than or equal to 50 pounds), high climbing, bending, working in awkward positions handling equipment and materials., • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone, • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.Company DescriptionThaddeus Stevens College of Technology is an acclaimed residential two-year college accepting students from throughout the state of Pennsylvania as well as veterans, members of the armed forces, and their families.
