As the firm continues to grow and modernize, we are seeking an experienced Tax & Accounting Manager to oversee client engagements, lead staff, and support firm principals. Position Summary The Tax & Accounting Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of tax and accounting clients, overseeing compliance and advisory engagements, and supervising staff. This role requires strong technical expertise in both tax and financial reporting, sound judgment, and the ability to balance client service with team leadership. The Manager works closely with firm principals to ensure high-quality service delivery and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Planning • Review and manage federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates, • Lead tax planning and advisory services for business owners and individuals, • Research complex tax matters and provide practical recommendations, • Oversee multi-state and local tax compliance as applicable Accounting & Financial Reporting • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes for business clients, • Review financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries, • Provide guidance on accounting issues, internal controls, and best practices, • Support compilation, review, and other attest-related engagements as applicable Client Relationship Management • Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients, • Communicate proactively with clients regarding tax and accounting matters, • Address client questions related to compliance, planning, and reporting, • Identify opportunities for additional advisory or accounting services Team Leadership & Review • Supervise, review, and mentor senior and staff accountants, • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback, • Assist with workload planning and deadline management during peak periods, • Support staff development and training initiatives Engagement & Firm Management • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines, • Coordinate with principals on engagement scope, pricing, and complex matters, • Assist with IRS and state notices, audits, and correspondence, • Contribute to process improvements and firm modernization efforts Qualifications Required • Bachelors degree in Accounting (Masters preferred), • Active CPA license, • 8+ years of public accounting experience, • Strong background in both tax compliance and accounting services, • Experience reviewing complex tax returns and financial statements, • Proven client-facing and team leadership experience Preferred • Experience working with closely held businesses and nonprofit organizations, • Prior experience managing engagements and staff, • Familiarity with practice management and workflow systems Software & Technology • UltraTax, • Accounting CS, • Engagement Manager, • QuickBooks (Desktop and Online), • Microsoft Excel and Word Skills & Attributes • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, • Clear and professional written and verbal communication, • Ability to manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, • Practical, client-focused approach to service, • Collaborative leadership style What We Offer • Competitive compensation based on experience, • Supportive team environment with reasonable workloads, • Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development, • Flexible work arrangements where appropriate, • Long-term career path within a stable, respected firm
